The fire filled up everything Emmy could see or feel or hear. It was burning, and rushing towards her, the light blotting out everything else around her that wasn't fire. She froze. She was going to be burned alive. She had time for just that thought, in a terrified loop of mental wordsoup, Portuguese and English all mashed together, fogo and fire and I'm going to die and Ai Jesus.
And then the fire failed to burn her.
Everything around her really did vanish, then, as the fire encircled her and grew, fed by some fuel other than that which the Pumpkin Ghost had provided. And there was something in the heart of it, shining so bright that Emmy had to shield her eyes with one hand to see it. It was a small round stone floating in front of her. Part of her had the distinct impression that it was hers, while a more logical part of her demanded to know why she wasn't dead or burning to a crisp. Somehow, she only felt vaguely warm. It was as if the light and fire created by the stone were shielding her...?
She reached out with her right hand, and grasped the glowing pink stone. It felt warm. Hot even. Some part of her had registered the words the other girl had called, wondering what they meant, but that was not that part of her that called these words up now: "Phoenix Star Power!"
And all the light and fire around her spun, and Emmy spun, and when she finally came to a stop the fire had dispersed from around her. But she was different. Her costume was gone, replaced by a uniform not unlike Sailor Apus's, except in pink and orange. Her hair was completely different; ponytails hung behind her, fading in color from pink to yellow, and an intricate style topped her head. She was briefly conscious of being in a very short skirt, and heels, but the immediate concerns of crazy freaking magic and being almost set on fire pushed that to the background for now.
"... hoo-ly shit" summed it up pretty well. But even as Emmy's conscious mind was failing to completely comprehend, her body was adopting a defensive stance, turned towards the Pumpkin Ghost, ready to react to another attack.
