Maybe there had never been any easy way forward. Certainly Tahiri's life hadn't been particularly easy and she had not thus far let it get her down. Although she couldn't help but feel that recently she had been more likely to let it get her down. Lately it had been easier to step back and be passive - to just hope that nothing would go wrong, that she wouldn't be taken over, that things wouldn't go badly. Anakin had left a few weeks previously, and while Tahiri could feel him gone, she could also - or maybe she was just completely crazy - feel him there. She knew he was alive, even if she hadn't heard from him and no one else had either. And she knew that he was working towards something important. There had never been any doubt in her mind that Anakin was important. She'd known that, perhaps from the first moment she'd seen him in the Jedi Academy as a kid, and he'd been alone and sitting quietly and she'd pulled him out, not really knowing who he was - she'd put that together after the fact - but there had been something about him. Maybe it had been the Force, if she'd even been able to see it that early. And now he was off somewhere else and she was here, left behind. A year ago, or two years ago that would have infuriated her, but right now as she pulled herself into meditation, it didn't. That was surprising and a little unexpected. But she had Darius, and Jaxa, both of whom were good friends, and Darius in particular had been a support that she hadn't expected. She'd grown to count on that support in its own way, and she was realizing that maybe, he could be counted on in the way that she'd wanted to be able to count on him - whatever he said, or didn't say along those lines. Today she had one goal. Anakin had managed to connect a Yuuzhan Vong lambent to his lightsaber instead of a crystal - something that could have only been done with the Force. Today, her goal was simple, to find the personality that had been grafted inside of her, and to reach out to her, touch her, and connect to her. Anakin had been able to do it with the lambent, and she could tell that he believed it might be possible on some wider scale - to figure out why the Yuuzhan Vong didn't connect to the Force, and to figure out how to connect to them via the Force. Well, Tahiri had a Yuuzhan Vong inside her body, and she could still use the Force. Perhaps, hopefully even, she was living proof that something like this was possible. Today she fell into the Force, into the meditation, and she worked to reach out, to find this other woman and to approach her without fear. Anakin had believed she might be onto something and right now, as she could feel the sense of life swirling around her, Tahiri believed it too. The Yuuzhan Vong were alive, for all the death they caused. They had to be capable of interacting in the Force. That they weren't... something was broken. Something... was wrong. And it wasn't just the darkness in this galaxy. And while there were a thousand battles to be fought outside, Tahiri's fight was turned inside. And it wasn't so much a fight as it was a reckoning, a diplomatic summit, or maybe a healing. |
