Who: Leia Organa Solo & Lyric
When: 62.02
Where: Refugee Service ships.
What: Lyric accompanies Leia to help refugees and gets a little more than he bargained for.
Rating: Low
Status: COMPLETE.
The ships were as bad off as Leia had feared they would be. While some of them were strictly escapes from Duro, others had been in orbit around Duro from places attacked prior to that planet - Ithor, Dantooine - and most of them had been in orbit for months, some of them had not been particularly made for passenger travel and so temporary quarters had been crafted out of whatever had been available - metal pieces, crates, furniture or other items - but it was no way to be living for days on end, much less on weeks. Leia had told the Jedi she would like to deliver supplies directly to one of the larger ships herself, and when she had realized Lyric was available she had asked him if he wished to accompany her. Jacen was working on Jedi things and she thought it would give her a chance to speak with Lyric - something she hadn't done since they had been traveling in the Falcon together. Some of the smaller ships had been simpler - a captain and several dozen beings crammed into spaces that were not so much larger than the Millennium Falcon, but the hold was not for supplies, it was for people, in little camps housed together. The supplies they were bringing was food, protein bars, rations, soap and personal supplies, and some medical supplies. Their last stop was the largest. The ship had at one time no doubt been a passenger liner between systems. But the time it had served as such had likely been before the Old Republic had fallen. Once lush wall coverings had given away to scuffed and scratched bulkheads, carpet so worn in places that you could see the durasteel underneath it, and the addition of several thousand beings, likely about 30% more than it was originally intended to travel, had only made it worse. Despite this, these refugees were in some ways better than many that Leia had already dealt with. There were large open spaces for community, and there were actual rooms even if there were probably more people in each room than would have been booked when the ship sailed. Still, there was some privacy for families - more than others might have had. In terms of supplies, though, they were as badly off as anywhere else, and so they queued up and Leia handed out personal packs to families with a smile while the Noghri lurked around enforcing a sort of order simply by their presence. She glanced over the heads of the crowd and considered if the boxes she had were likely to run out before they were finished. She hoped she would be able to get something to every family on board. As she handed over a pack to a particularly pungent Rodian female she swapped a grimace into a smile for her and a simple acknowledgement of the thanks she'd received for it. "How's your supply level?" She said quietly to Lyric next to her as she waited for the next refugee family to step up. "Holding steady for now." Lyric ran the numbers that he knew they had in his head. Keeping track of dwindling supplies was something lyric knew intimately, stretching the small bits as long as they could. But for the people they had gathered in front of them? This was larger than he was used to calculating. But they might be able to get through the crowd. It wouldn't be enough but it was never enough. These people needed more than the supplies the Jedi had managed to pull together. Honestly it was a small wonder that people managed to keep as orderly as they did. Elix or jacen might have said that it was something to take hope in, that even with the fear that plagued the Galaxy people could still manage to keep some kind of cool or order. Maybe they would be right. But all lyric could see was the pain running through all of them. This ship thrummed with pain caused by the yuuzhan vong. "Many more injured bad though and we'll run out." Lyric frowned for a moment before schooling his expression cool. Leia nodded and offered a smile to the next person, a Ryn, and handed over the supply kit. It was the injured ones that were the most challenging. "Well, we'll get through what we can, and it's that many more that will know that someone cares enough to try." And that was the best that you could hope for really. There wasn't going to be an absolute answer. They would not give them places to call home and who knew when they could once again return to their planets - if ever - and when they did, they would more than likely look so much different from when they had left them. But at least for the next few weeks, few months, depending on the family and the supplies, they would be slightly better off than they had been. It was precious little, but it was the best that they could do. The crowd had dwindled but not quite so much as their supplies when Leia's attention was caught by a small Twi'lek girl. She couldn't have been more than three or four and she had a wide look to her eyes that was unmistakeably alarm in any language - which was the best that Leia could do without Threepio nearby. She paused, reaching over the counter to offer the girl a soothing voice and an equally soothing glance. "Sweetheart do you speak Basic, where is your mother?" The Ryl that came out of the young girl's mouth was completely unintelligible and Leia frowned glancing around for the protocol droid. "Threepio?" Lyric knew that look. He'd seen it on too many kids throughout his life. Sometimes it ended all right, finding their parents or relatives or at least someone who knew who they were. Sometimes it ended up like him and Elix. And then there were the ones he knew were out there that he would never see, the ones that would either die or survive because of some luck and their own merit. "Its okay." the words were a little rusty and lyric knew that despite what Izi had said without lekku he'd only be conversational at best. But it was hard to forget the first language you knew. Pushing himself up, lyric slid over the counter and dropped easily on the other side. Quickly he shrunk down, kneeing to bring himself down to the young girls level. It could be a trick, sending kids in was a great way to lower guard for a raid or attack. But despite what people might think kids weren't necessarily the best actors. This one was shaken so if it was a trick she was being forced into it to begin with. So he reached out his hand and smiled gently. "I'm Lyric, are you lost?" Leia's head swivelled back around at Ryl coming from what sounded to be Lyric's voice, and then as she turned around she realized it was Lyric's voice. The little girl must have been equally surprised, but then there was a look of unmistakable relief that crossed her face as she realized this human spoke more than Basic and could understand her. The string that followed was quick and accompanied by movements of her lekku that were perhaps more exaggerated than she'd ever seen in any adult Twi'lek, but she supposed that made sense in its own way. Small children often exaggerated words or spoke more loudly than adults did, why, with a language like Ryl that utilized both vocal sounds and physical movements, would this not be the case here. She hesitated for a moment, uncertain if she should persist in requesting Threepio, or if Lyric would be able to understand the girl without extra assistance. Truthfully Threepio's ability to translate was not always the best in unusual situations. "I was here with my Aunt and she was here just a moment ago, but I think she's gone now and I don't know where she's gone and the ship is big and no one understands- I don't know where she went I need to find her she can't have - but my mommy isn't here she had to stay at home. I'm with my Aunt. I'm Ewen. My name is Ewen. I need to find my Aunt." She took in the human in front of her. His language wasn't perfect, but it was good enough to understand but she didn't know if he could help her and she glanced around hoping once more to see the blue lekku of her Aunt amongst the crowds of people, but she didn't even see any Twi'lek here. All sorts of other alien species that she had more or less gotten used to as she had been on this ship, but there were only four or five other Twi'lek on this ship and only one of them was her Aunt. "I need -I don't know where she went." "I'll help you find your aunt." lyric kept his voice slow and measured as he cast a quick eye around. The ship was packed past capacity and there were more than enough places where her aunt could have gone. And it was even possible that she had purposefully left the girl behind. One less mouth to feed, he could understand the reason for it. But with a crowd this big it was easy to get lost. Elix had tried to wonder off more than once at this age. Reaching out, he pointed over towards Leia. "This is Princess Leia. We are with the Jedi." he explained gently. He could see mostly over the top of the crowd at his height but he had no idea who he was looking for. "we will head back to here if we can't find your aunt. But you can ride on my shoulders and see if you can see her? Was she taking you to see the Jedi?" Ewen looked at Lyric and nodded, trying to get herself from simply babbling at him completely. He seemed nice. He seemed willing to try to help her. If only she had actually kept ahold of her Aunt's leg as she had asked Ewen to do then she might not have lost, but Lyric. He had said his name was Lyric. Lyric was nice. "I think so. She was hoping for soap. I think she said soap." Another refugee had crowded forward, and Leia could sense some impatience. Lyric seemed to have at least some control over the situation with the young girl, and she knew he was capable of asking for assistance if he needed it. She looked over at him, even as she reached for another packet of supplies to prepare for the next group. "Do you need Threepio, Lyric? I can still call him - but if not, then I can handle this for a bit." The young Twi'lek looked between them, clearly uncertain what Leia had said, but she had reached for Lyric's hand regardless, apparently deciding that he was worthy of her trust. Soap. He could manage that. Gently he reached out and took her sides, lifting Ewan up and setting her onto his shoulders with a practiced motion. I. Gave her a better vantage point and she wouldn't be pulled away from him the crowd. "hold on. I'm pretty tall. Let me know when you see her.". First he turned back to his station, reaching over and grabbing a prepared pack of supplies. And then it was out into the crowd. This he could handle, looking to catch a glimpse of a twi'lek amongst the rest of the bodies. Eventually they found her, panicked and grateful as Ewan climbed down and into her arms. It was a feeling he knew intimately, knowing that Elix was safe when he had feared the worst. The supplies were quietly passed over and Ewan's hand readily secured in her aunts. Goodbyes were had and then lyric made his way back to Leia and the few remaining supplies that they had. At least it got him out for a little. The supplies had gone through more quickly than Leia had hoped, but no less than she had anticipated. The truth was they were always going to have less to give than what there was need, and she was just grateful that the crowd, if frustrated, did not turn to violence. But then, in her time having worked with refugees she had found this truer than not. Yes, there was the opportunity for fear to take hold, but despite everything that they had gone through most of the refugees seemed to behave in a civilized way. Lyric had rejoined her and had continued to help and Leia had not really had time until they returned to their own ship to think about the events that had transpired. As they cleared the docking lock of the refugee passenger liner, Leia fastened her crash straps and placed the datapad she'd checked the various supply boxes off on down on her lap and turned to look at Lyric. She hadn't known he spoke Ryl, but somehow that was the least interesting thing that had transpired. His willingness to jump over the counter and put himself on the little girl's level, despite the fact that there was nothing that called him to do so had given her a direct glimpse into something that she had wondered about, but hadn't had any real proof other than Elix. But in that one moment she'd looked at the young man she was working with and she had known what Jacen must have seen, at some point along the way - he'd had the opportunity to see Lyric like that. The Lyric that Leia had seen had been mostly quiet. Typically deferential to authority, gentle and warm to Elix, and to Jacen as well, and willing to help with the Jedi - both coming with her and Han, and then later assisting Rikki - but she had never seen him be the one to take the initiative. Willing to help, had been a point in his favor, but he had told Leia that he was there because Jacen had asked - and she had been given no indication of what that had really meant at that moment - but it seemed likely to be true. Until today she had felt him more likely involved because those he cared about were, until today when he'd jumped over a barrier to help a small lost Twi'lek girl because he could. "Thank you for your help today, Lyric," she said softly. Lyric shrugged easily in response to her thanks. Sure he could have said no but there wouldn't have been a point to it. After all he was recovered and since he was now stuck with this life there was no reason to hide. Handing out supplies suited him in a way their other endeavors hadn't anyways. This was something that helped people without directly seeking to harm, without having to manipulate to survive. It was novel, really, for that point on its own. Today he had simply gotten to help and that was that. "You're staring a little bit." he pointed out, tilting his head slightly as he turned to look back at Leia. Leia managed a smile and she looked down with a nod. She supposed she was staring a bit. It hadn't been intentional, but today had given her a different view of Lyric and she found herself trying to see if there were other things she hadn't uncovered about this man who had so captured her son's heart. But it wasn't particularly polite to try to do so all in one go she supposed. Instead she glanced back up and gave him a warm smile. "I'm sorry. I just didn't know you spoke Ryl." Her answer led to a small, quick uptick of his eyebrow. Maybe it wasn't the most obvious language for a human to speak but it wasn't as if her family was unfamiliar with other languages. Han Solo seemed to understand near as many languages as their droid did. But he supposed that understanding and speaking were two different skills. And it wouldn't have surprised him if Jacen's mother simply assumed he knew less than he did. He'd already noticed her quietly pushing words towards him to read, she'd noticed. "My mother was a twi'lek." he replied simply as he crossed his arms over his chest. Izi was really more of an impression in his mind than a clear memory. The older he got the harder it became to tell what was a actual memory and what he just hoped was one. "Learned it at the same time as basic." Leia raised an eyebrow at that. But it filled in a piece of the puzzle. Her own children knew Shiriiwook well because they had grown up with Chewie as an uncle. It was easy to pick up language as a child and she supposed it shouldn't have been that much of a surprise that he could have picked Ryl up so easily as a child in the Undercity, or perhaps other languages as well. "I suspect Jacen would speak Shiriiwook as well as a Wookiee if humans had the vocal capability for it," Leia said with a smile. "Chewie spoke it enough around all of them. It makes sense that you would know it then. It just surprise me to hear you speak it so well. I think that little girl thought you were an angel," she mused. Despite what Jacen might think, Lyric wasn't too fond of attention his way. Leia trying to bring to light something like calling him an angel? Lyric had no real concept of how to handle that. There had been a kid alone and afraid and he had been that kid years ago. Not all those kids had to end up alone like he had, with no answer as to what had really happened. There was nothing heroic to it, just sad desperation that he had wished someone else had felt for him. "Your droid likely would have just scared her off." Lyric kept his voice quiet as he looked away. "My accent's worthless, no lekku." "You seemed to manage," Leia said. "And I know she, and whoever you found for her, was grateful. Bad accent or no." She turned her attention back to the datapad in front of her and away from Lyric. Despite months on the same ship, she still felt as if she didn't really know Lyric well. Little pieces had proven her instincts about him to be more accurate than not, but she didn't know how to reach out and to build any sort of relationship with him - something that she was beginning to believe might be important. "I think we both know my son thinks very highly of you, Lyric. I'm not trying to make you uncomfortable. But I'm his mother, and what's important to him, is important to me." The look of relief on her face had been worth any annoyance of Lyric's part. No child deserved to be alone, he was just glad he didn't have to turn her over to anyone else that she didn't know before they had left. The smile and thanks were really all he had needed, and honestly he hadn't even needed those. It wasn't that long ago really that Elix had been that small. He still remembered opening that cabinet and seeing bright eyes like starlight looking up at him and just trusting that he wouldn't hurt her like her parents had been hurt. If it had been anyone other than him Elix wouldn't still be alive, a bright and vibrant young woman on the cusp of being on her own completely. He mulled quietly over Leia's point. Jacen's family meant the world to him, which meant that Lyric had to at least try. And he was, in his own way. He didn't pull out the false charm, he helped when they asked, but people seemed to always want to poke deeper and that wasn't something Lyric normally allowed. "He loves me." Lyric finally answered, quietly as he cast a steady glance over to Jacen's mother. "And you both ask a lot of questions." Leia's lips turned up in a small smile. It was an accusation and it wasn't entirely untrue. She supposed that perhaps it was where Jacen got it from - at least partially. She met his gaze and considered the statement. "I was a senator at Jacen's age, and Chief of State of the New Republic after that. I think questions were a part of the job I had to do." She should stop asking questions she supposed. It perhaps wasn't the best way to relate to him. But she really wasn't certain how to do this. She never had needed to before. "I know he loves you," Leia said finally, lifting her gaze to meet Lyric's. "That's been apparent to me since he told me. It was apparent when you came back injured from the mission. And I can tell that you love him," her lips turned up in a smile. "Probably we would have a very different conversation if I wasn't certain of that." "Elix has the play by play memorized." he commented softly. It wasn't meant as snide, though maybe should could take it that way. But Lyric knew the highlights of Leia Organa-Solo's life. He'd seen them played out before the galaxy just like everyone else. Sure there was a person behind the legend, behind the speeches and stories, but the fact remained that he knew more about her simply because of who she was than likely she ever wanted to know about him. Which, to be fair, Lyric was fine with. He didn't really need to learn where Jacen got his questions from, though it seemed he had no other option. "I didn't want to leave Coruscant." he offered as a small concession instead. He held her eyes for a brief moment before looking away. The brief moment back hadn't been enough and who knew when he would ever see home again. The Undercity was everything wrong with the galaxy but at least he felt like he belonged there, unlike everywhere out here. "I'm sure she's not the only one," Leia remarked with a smile but there was a sigh underneath the smile. It was a life that she had chosen, but it was also one that had been thrust upon her. With her placement in Bail Organa's household, she had been thrust into the limelight from an early age. She had been trained to be part of the galaxy and her children were part of that. Their lives as well, despite where she might have shielded them, had been part of public record. She wondered how much Lyric had known of Jacen before he had ever met him. "Coruscant is home," Leia said softly, the half memories of Bail Organa's palace floating through her mind. "Home stays with you wherever you go no matter how far away it is." Elix wasn't the only one by far but she was the only one that mattered in Lyric's opinion. She was the only reason he allowed himself to be dragged out for events, using it as an opportunity to slip a few more credits into their pockets since it was there and presenting itself. That world was as much Jacen's as it was his mother's though, a world that he was now seeing the inner workings of for no reason other than he'd been foolish enough to fall in love with a man wrapped up in the center of it. "Elix likes traveling with you." Lyric moved to the easier topic. Leia wanted information, he could give it to her. He could give information about Elix, because Elix wouldn't mind. Leia considered this, the topic switch not going without notice. It seemed to her that Lyric would easily talk about Elix, but was more reluctant to talk about himself. It made getting to know him decidedly more challenging than she would have liked, but it did seem that she was going to get the time to get to know him if Jacen had anything to say about it. It didn't need to happen tomorrow. Hopefully it would happen naturally over time and one day she'd have perhaps even a friendly relationship with this boy. Leia hoped so, because whatever Han might say, if this was where Jacen wanted to be, Leia wanted to feel comfortable too. "She's a good girl," she said finally. She did Lyric credit. Like his actions today had done him credit as well. Little pieces that Leia didn't quite know how to put together in a full picture, but they showed a man that she could believe her son might have fallen in love with. He had, regardless, but in tiny glimpses Leia was beginning to see why. "She's been as willing as any of our children have been," perhaps more willing than Jacen had been initially. "She seems to really care about helping people, and the galaxy could use more people like that right now. It would be a better place for it." "She likes adventure." And she certainly had gotten plenty of adventure since meeting Rikki and even more now that they had become tangled with the Jedi. He worried about her being so willing to throw herself into danger for others when really it wasn't getting her anything in return. But then again he didn't have any room to talk anymore, all it seemed to take was Jacen looking at him and Lyric was becoming willing to throw caution into the wind. Elix's life was a different matter though. She was so young still, even if she didn't want people to thing of her as young. To Lyric she was just a kid, his kid, and he had trouble seeing her as older than the little girl he'd helped today. "And ships. Always wanted a life like this. And now's she's got one." "It doesn't sound like you're entirely thrilled about that," Leia offered sympathetically. She thought about her own children and the past year, well more than. Beginning with Dubrillion she had been forced to step back while they stepped up time and time again putting their own lives in danger to help others. It was one of the more difficult things she had ever had to do. When they had been children, she could at least pretend that she could hold them in her arms and keep them safe. That she could keep them on a planet far away from anything that might hurt them, and that nothing could ever go wrong. But they were grown now - nearly adults - and while it had never been a truth that she could protect them, she certainly could not do so now. "Wait until she falls in love with someone, and it's not just her physical safety you're worried about any more, it's her heart and her emotions, and it's completely out of your control. And you can't control it any more than you could control who you fell in love with. You just hope they'll be good to them, and hope nothing will happen to them, so you don't have to see them breaking..." She knew her youngest son was hurting. It had been impossible not to see it, a quiet thoughtfulness that had been less typical of recent, not since Chewie had died had she seen him so silent in the face of various things that should be done. She breathed out and shook her head. "It's hard to not ask questions," she offered instead, providing Lyric with a smile. "But I will try to keep them to a minimum, truly. This one, though, isn't about you, or Jacen, at least not directly. Would you like to keep helping with this sort of work. You're good at it - that thing with the young Twi'lek girl - that's the sort of compassion we need from someone who is working with refugees." "Somehow I think I'd be more okay with that then her willingness to throw herself into danger." Lyric shrugged easily. Elix was smart, he'd raised her that way. And maybe someday she would fall for someone. He never thought he would and look what had happened when a pretty jedi had strayed into his view. But heartbreak could be healed. If Elix was cut down as part of this war, that would be it. "I'd rather her get the chance to have someone stomp on her heart than her never get the chance because we're all dead." He wasn't here to help with refugees. He was here because Jacen needed him, or at the very least had wanted him along for this despite Lyric's own instinct to stay on Coruscant. But Jacen had duties just as he always had, there was no way that he could possibly stay by his side even if he wanted to. And the Solo's true to form, were drawing Elix into their orbit and she was more than happy to throw herself into whatever task they or the Jedi decided they had need of her for. He couldn't deny that this was appealing in its own way. It wasn't combat, something that he had absolutely no interest in. Instead this was helping people who needed it, people who had been like him and placed in desperate situations through no fault of their own other than the universe working against them. He went quiet for a long moment, staring at nothing in particular before shrugging gently. "I'll think about it." Leia was certain that losing Anakin would have hurt more than watching him fight whatever battles he was currently fighting. He could heal and she had every faith that he would because Anakn had a resilience that was rooted in a deep sense of the force. She didn't have to be a Jedi to see that. But it didn't mean that it was easy to watch. Regardless Lyric had a point and she fell silent not really certain how to proceed further. Lyric's response wasn't terribly enthusiastic although neither was it a no and once again Leia was left trying to come to some sort of understanding of this boy. He was there because Jacen wanted him, and she knew that. Was it the only reason? Perhaps so, but she had thought she'd seen more today. She had thought she'd glimpsed... Well... Someone she could possibly connect with outside of the shared interest of her son. But every time she thought she had found something it seemed to be not quite what she thought. She wondered briefly what had happened to his mother, the Twi'lek. It was a question she wouldn't ask because if the woman was no longer in the picture, and Leia had gotten the idea she was not, then it was hardly an easy story and it wasn't her intention to be purposefully nosy or difficult with questions. Finally she offered a smile and nodded. "Let me know what you decide," she said. "We'll be able to use the help. There are so many that have lost everything and in some ways they are the fortunate ones. Like you say, they're here to move past it. But if we can help at all with that then it will be something even if it is very little." She glanced back at the datapad screen for a moment but she wasn't looking at it for anything significant. Instead she was thinking through everything that had happened over the past few months. The times she hadn't been able to be there for Jacen and all the times she could guess that Lyric had been. She looked back at him for a moment and reached over to gently squeeze his shoulder and she smiled briefly. "I'm glad Jace has had you around. The past year hasn't been the easiest for him - well not for many. But I can see ... I'm just glad you've been able to be there for him." He was startled by the sudden touch, his head snapping to focus in on Leia. Most of his life Lyric had spent with people coming into his space and really he had no issue with physical boundaries. Still it was a surprise, Leia had not exactly reached for him before. And in general the Solo family seemed less focused on touch than his own small family with Elix was. Maybe it was easier when they all spent so much time apart. But he didn't pull away from her, simply allowing the hand to exist on his shoulder for as long as she decided to leave it there. Lyric watched her carefully for a moment, mulling over his options to reply. This wasn't something to say your welcome to. Standing by Jacen hadn't even been his original intention, but those days were now long forgotten. How they ended up here was as much about Jacen's insistence that he wouldn't let Lyric go than anything else. But those were details that his mother didn't really need to know. "I plan to stay there for him." he said quietly, not sure what else to say. "As long as he wants me to." Leia let out a breath considering the scene she'd walked into back when he had explained about him and Lyric. Han had been angry and perhaps rightfully so considering what he'd seen. Leia couldn't say she was thrilled with Jacen's choices in that regard either, but she was more and more certain that this choice, this being Lyric himself, had been a solid one. "That's good enough for me," she said with a smile. "It's as much as I would hope for any of my children. And speaking as his mother, so long as that is true you are welcome anywhere my family is, Lyric, and it's important to me that you know that." She glanced back at the datapad and changed the subject: "I think at the end of the week we'll take the Falcon back to Coruscant to see what else we can gather in the way of supplies. Ever since Duro, it feels the Senate is hesitant to authorize supplies. But there are some non-profits that I know have helped in the lost and every little bit will help." "You'd have better luck going outside the senate." Lyric offered, his voice steady as his eyes dropped towards her datapad. Sure the Senate and its politicians might have a greater resource for wealth than anywhere else on Coruscant but they'd spent the entire war being useless, what was the point in really trying with politicians who would only ever care about themselves. That was really the point of politicians anyway, for the powerful to become more powerful. He let his arms fall to his sides, his expression still motionless as it had been through this entire exchange. "You might have more luck with some of the merchants. Not everyone in the Undercity hates refugees, if you know where to look." Leia considered that statement. She wouldn't know where to look in the Undercity. She would know where to reach non-profits, but when it came to individuals... that was an entirely different route and at one time she had been better at it than she had been recently. Recently she had been working from within the Senate and her resources simply weren't what they might have once been for individual donations. But she was sitting next to one young man who could be a resource if he would be, and he had made the suggestion. "That's something I haven't done in a very long time," she admitted. "Not since we were fighting against the Empire. I'd have no idea where to begin, but if you think there is merit in doing so, then it's something worth investigating. Would you have an idea of some that might be sources for us?" Lyric had his own opinions on what she had been doing since her fight against the Empire, but that wasn't Lyric's place. This was Jacen's mother and he had more than seen her trying to do her part to actually help people instead of hide in safety like the rest of the senate. "There are a few people I could ask." Lyric watched her carefully. "Long as you don't ask them where they got the supplies." After all the conversations in the Falcon she would have thought it obvious that they were not above reclaiming goods that might have otherwise be routed somewhere they would help no one who needed it. But there might be situations where she would be more squeamish and she appreciated the comment and its recognition of that. "My only concern would be that they not be taking them from others who have just as much use for them," she said instead, glancing over at Lyric seriously. She had seen his clothing and Elix's when they had walked onto the ship at Coruscant and she had seen Elix's eyes at being offered seconds from the ships rations. She'd seen the quiet way Lyric had filled out just a little in the past few months, still tall and lanky, but no longer so gaunt-looking. Lyric knew as well as she did - better even - the need that existed upon Coruscant. "There is need in places that the Yuuzhan Vong have not yet touched but you know the possible sources, and that's a judgement call I will trust you to make. I will ask no questions. I have not been Han Solo's wife for all these years without learning the benefit of not asking the question sometimes." Her lips quirked up with a smile. "Regardless of how it may at times seem." |
