Who: Caitlin and Cisco What: Sciencey stuff When: 3/7, right around the time Barry goes missing Where: STAR labs Rating/Warnings: TBD, likely low
After Ronnie took off to explore his powers further, Caitlin threw herself back into her work. Fortunately, the work she was doing at STAR labs was all-encompassing. Between playing hero support for Barry and exploring all of the ramifications of time travel and metahumans, there was enough to keep Caitlin fairly distracted from her own personal life. Most nights, she got home with just enough time to eat dinner and sleep. It wasn't much of a social life, but she was okay with that. She'd never been the type to live for nights out at the bar or parties.
Today was a quiet day as far as crime sprees went, so she kept herself busy combing over the notes that she'd started on time travel. After finding out that an older version of Barry had somehow been present at his mom's murder, that just opened up all sorts of questions. She'd already started wondering about Barry's speed and the possibilities it could hold after the Reverse Flash managed to drag him into the future. But now? Well, this was all but proof that Barry would get fast enough to travel through time himself. Now it was a matter of working out the equations for the right speed and developing some theories on the way time worked. Unfortunately, they were theories that might not be testable anytime in the near future.
She was most concerned with the 'should' in all of this. Even if Barry could travel in time, should he? What would the fallout be from changing something. Was there a butterfly effect? Could even the tiniest change be catastrophic? And what about alternate timelines? Was there just one timeline that was malleable, or would each change create a divergent timeline and a parallel earth of sorts?
She was quite lost in these questions, when she finally decided to get out of her office and find someone to bounce theories off. She didn't bother looking for Wells-he was getting more reclusive these days. Instead, she looked for Cisco. She might end up with a few pop culture references as they worked through some theories, but maybe she needed that lightness today.
"Cisco?" she called out, checking in his workspace first.
