Gideon's worst nightmare for this mission had just unfolded before his eyes. They'd dropped out of warp into a trap, more then a trap... A massacre. Gideon’s grip on his chair tightened as the Odyssey was knocked around in the tidal wave of enemy ships. He'd never seen or heard of an attack of this magnitude by ships this small.
His bridge crew went into action and he could, at least, take solace in the fact he did indeed have the best command crew it Starfleet.
"Granted Lieutenant!" Gideon yelled toward his Chief of security. "Watch the other vessels." But before the pulse could even be charged Gideon watched as the other Federation vessels gave into onslaught. Neither ship stood a chance, there hulls buckled and a thousand small explosions gathered into two massive ones. He didn't linger on the horror, he couldn’t. They were about to endure the same fate.
The Odyssey was too new to go down this early. Gideon pushed himself up from his chair and joined Ranul at his console. "Can't run and outgunned. What do you do?" He was mostly speaking out loud to himself but input was never unwelcome. He tapped away at the computer. "You hide." He remembered a large nasty looking moon lurking near. Ninety-five percent gas, it was an ugly little ball of energy. If they could get some distance... "Prepare to activate the cloaking device." Mason looked to Ranul to make sure he understood.
"Ensign! Bring us around, full impulse toward that moon. Reroute all available power, shields anything."
"The EMP gives us some breathing room, the moon's magnetic field will hide us from there sensor's until the cloak is engaged." Gideon just prayed the cloak was still working and that there enemy couldn't detect it. He looked toward Olivia to see if his first officer anything to add.
