"One night," Andrei said. When Mr. Kaden had caught him tussling with the weres on a full moon night. Not that he'd known it. Andrei had realized who that bear was only after the gargantuan furball had tossed him into a cell. Andrei had been defiant, yelling at the lumbering giant that this wasn't the way to break him, and that he'd sit there, in the cell, and he'd be quiet and dignified as he sat out the night. Mr. Kaden wouldn't get him down this way.
Three minutes later, Andrei had been hanging from the bars, whining that he wanted to be let out. He'd only been let out in the morning, after Mr. Kaden had sternly warned the vampire to leave the weres alone.
We'd see about that.
Andrei gave James an amused look. "It might be all of those things, but if you wanna survive, you gotta take what you can get." Andrei pinched James' cheek, not fazed by the boy's arrogance posture. "You can't go out huntin' when you're ravenous like this. You'll make mistakes. You'll be caught. You'll be staked. Drink at the school, and then... Well, then you can do other stuff at night, or in the weekends." Andrei raised an eyebrow. "If ya get my drift."
