Slightly Homesick...
Who: Jamaal and Ambriel What: Checking out the town Where: Fair When: Tuesday afternoon, June 24th
The town was cool, but it was incredibly different from back where Jamaal was from. For one, it just felt weird for there to be so much water close by. Not bad or anything, just weird. Then there was the whole fact that the place to ride horses was completely green. Again not bad, just different. It was going to take him a while to get used to Maine, that's for sure. He was already getting a bit homesick, but not quite as much for reasons like missing his family. He had been away from them for a whole month before, so that wouldn't set in just yet. He missed the food. This place's Mexican food sucked! Not really a surprise or anything seeing as it's as far away from Mexico you could get before hitting Canada. He would have to see if Mr. K. knew how to make some good stuff, cause Jamaal wouldn't be able to take this much longer. He would wind up just ordering pizza everyday. Hell, he hadn't even seen a Chick-fil-A around this place. The diner was at least good. Burgers and stuff at mom and pop places were always winners.
He found himself at the fairgrounds during his trek around town this Tuesday afternoon. Fair food was always good and bad for you, so he would probably find something good to eat around there. Still, he would probably trade almost anything for a Sonoran Dog. He'd probably just have to learn how to make it himself. Jamaal was in a pair of jeans with a black tank on, loving the sun on his body. It wasn't anything like what it was back home, but still nice.
The fair was pretty decent, got to enjoy a snow cone for a while by continuously adding a bit more ice to the top of it with his new power. He was definitely hoping he would find some better uses for it eventually, but for now, this was cool. He even managed to find a hot dog stand next to a Mexican food stand. Score! He went to get the hot dog first (unfortunately they didn't have bacon though), then went to the Mexican food stand and just paid for the toppings he needed: pinto beans, jalapenos, onions, and pico de gallo. He then returned to the hotdog stand and finished the dog off. Both of the vendors stared at the boy as though he were insane, but hey, this was the closest to food from home he had found so far. He went to find a place to sit down and eat, hoping this thing at least tasted half decent.
