"You're a better bet than Ashton. At least you know what it means to smile," Davian smirked, pulling her against him when they arrived at the dance floor. He had his hand at her lower back, the other trailing the backs of his knuckles down her bare shoulder. "And maybe you should rethink that. The whole... not being afraid of a demon."
Snickering, he gave a shrug like he was shrugging something off his conscience, and turned them on the dance floor, making no qualms about getting closer to her, right up against her, with the hand at her back guiding in a way that spoke of his familiarity with not only dancing, but dancing with a partner. He hoped he was making some poor sap jealous of his dance with Emily. Ashton might be clueless, but everyone had a point of pride.
