In response, Valentin rolled imaginary, elbow-length opera gloves down his arms. The joke made perfect sense to him, but to others, perhaps less so.
He winked and got closer to Garret again, moving into his space and dancing close. It wasn't exactly intimate -- the music was too upbeat for that -- but they were clearly having a good time. "So, dish," Valentin said, "if the stars had aligned just right, who'd you have taken to the dance? Who is your dreamboat?"
