Jack had volunteered because he liked Thérèse, not realizing what he was getting into. Teenage girls, overacting. Teenage boys, trying to act and be cool at the same time, which was hard when you were entering a silly musical like this. Still, there was something funny about this, the girls darting around him as if he were truly a prince. He'd seen some balls in his town, but they'd been in town halls and some bigger houses, never in a royal hall.
Still, he felt the decor was too clean, too polished. Fake. Still, this was supposed to be a fairytale, wasn't it? Couldn't hurt to embellish a little.
Jack was dressed in his daily suit, though he had allowed one of the girls to put the prince's crown in his hair. It was a thin, silver thing, more a headband than a crown. She'd assured him it was manly.
Jack grinned when Thérèse appeared, dressed in her black dress as well. Thankfully, she hadn't changed. She was pretty enough as it is. His eyes followed her, before remembering his part. He held out his arm, guiding her to the dancefloor. "Um," he said, before he remembered. He had to project: "Why have I never met you before?"
