Graveyard: Mystery Girl & Open
Xanthippe wasn't quite sure what to do for Halloween. The whole thing seemed very strange to her, a school of monsters dressing up as other monsters. Her own outfit was a bit last minute. Walking around town, she'd sometimes be mistaken for a Muslim because of her headscarf, confusing her greatly the first time it happened. Looking into the garments of that religion, she found she liked the idea of the burqa, hiding the wearer away from the covetous gaze of greedy men. When she'd asked for such an outfit before, the teacher had explained that would not be appropriate for her to wear. But today was Halloween, and she could wear what she wished, and so she was covered up in flowing black fabric.
The rise of the ghosts was astounding, and Xanthippe watched with great interest. She clapped as they rose into the air, then stopped as the looks of the teachers let her know this was not the correct behavior. She wanted to ask why not, as having a night of freedom from the Underworld seemed worth applauding, but asking questions also did not seem to be the correct behavior. So instead, she smiled, behind her burqa where it could not be seen. Yes, she was rather liking the veil. Maybe she could find a way to wear it more often.
After the ghosts moved on, Xanthippe turned back to the school herself. Where to go? Ladon, with their loud music? Kitsune, with their games and competitions? Pegasus, with their more sedate celebration? What to do, what to do...
