WHO: Caleb Blackburn & Mickey
WHERE: The Auto Shop, on campus
WHEN: Thursday after school
While Caleb was glad to be back at the school, back to somewhere that had rightfully become known as home, it still didn't take the sting out of the fact that he'd sold his mother's house. He'd grown up in that home, and even though the new owners looked like a hopeful young couple, Caleb was still slightly sickened of what he'd done. Of course they didn't know about the break in or any of the other strange occurrences that had happened to he and his mom over the years, they're been no need to divulge that information.
For all they needed to know, Caleb was an orphan who was smart enough to get power of attorney over his dead mother's property before she died and he was looking to move on.
Which, wasn't exactly true, but it was still the fact. The house was sold, the money would stay in his trust until he graduated from St. Margaret's, and then he'd live whatever kind of life he wanted. Maybe he'd become a hermit in the hills, or a guide up mountains. Unfortunately, Caleb already knew when he had such fantasies that he would always end up close to the ocean. But, just maybe, he'd get to choose which ocean it was, on which island, far away from anyone. He knew their small house wasn't enough to buy and island, but a boy could dream.
Instead of focusing on any of that at the moment, Caleb was under the frame of an Oldsmobile F-85. He wasn't sure if it was the '61 model or the '63 model, he just knew it needed an overhaul. It had been his gift to himself once he'd gotten his first allowance from his trust. It wasn't much - never really would be - but it was enough to get the car out of the junkyard and onto a flatbed. He wasn't sure if it had been gremlins who had brought it over or what, but he'd paid for privacy and had found it a few weeks previous in the side garage off the Auto Body classroom. He didn't care if others worked on it, since that was the class, after all, but while some people did puzzles to quiet their minds, Caleb fixed - tried to, at least.
The Oldsmobile was the first step in that process.
