Thread: Nature Walk
WHO: Alec, Valentin, and Leon
WHEN: April 23 - April 25
WHERE: Between Katahdin and Monson, Appalachian Trail, Maine
Being one with nature was kind of his schtick, seeing as he was half Cherokee and the other half Haitian, but it also happened to be something Leon kept close to his heart as a part of his personal belief systems. He'd seen spirits, been visited by the Loa, and he walked the path of The One as a developing Voodoo Priest. Long nature voyages like this one, even if it was only for a couple days, were times he rejoined with the universe and recognized that his spirit and his body was all part of the sacred circle and cycle of life. It was the act of living and relying off of the land that had taught him, from both his ancestries, the importance of life itself. And this time he was bringing friends. His father didn't like him to go out on strange trails alone and last year he had berated him for it. So this year Leon had left an open invitation and if there were takers, great - as long as they didn't slow him down - and if there weren't, well, at least he could tell the Supreme Houngan of Haiti that he had tried.
Fortunately, only two people showed an interest and they were two people Leon got along with and could stand, and together they set out for the closest pick up starting location for the Appalachian Trail and, their supplies gathered and a map just to be safe, they made the first steps of their journey. The forecast called for rain or possible snow, depending on their elevation for Weds, but the rest of the week was only partly cloudy with temps in the 50s F.
