Gil had been on his bed, musing. It was just like brooding, except far more lighthearted. The trip had gone about as well as expected. His parents' reaction had been... surprisingly uncatastrophic. He felt more emboldened to be whomever he was, a sentiment those who voted for him as a class president might find surprising.
When Van opened the door, Gil perked up, shaken from his musings about the future. His face split into a grin when he saw Van and the elf went to meet him, arms outstretched as well.
"You sound like a commoner," Gil whispered against his boyfriend's hair, before softly touching the new earring. "I like it." He leaned in and briefly sucked Van's earlobe, pawing at his shirt. He had thought they would have a lot to talk about, but now, another urge overtook him.
