“Goddess.” Cheyenne sighed with a shake of her head after Talyssa was finished. ”Why do you talk so much? It’s like you vocalize every thought in your head just to hear your own voice.” But instead of a scowl, Cheyenne’s lips turned again into a small smirk of amusement.
Talyssa’s blabbermouth was one of the reasons why some of the students at the school gave her such a hard time. Talyssa could talk on and on about something that no one else in the room had any interest in, and not ever pick up on the fact no one was listening. Social cues seemed to be beyond her. While a part of Cheyenne knew that she herself had to pay close attention to learn what the popular people did that made them popular and try to emulate them, she didn’t want to slip back and start taking pity on a girl that didn’t take the time to do any of that. Her popular friends were already making fun of her for standing up for Tomi once. She wouldn’t make that mistake again.
Talyssa repeated the word on the page and Cheyenne nodded that she was correct, then reached in front of Talyssa to turn the page. Her fingers brushed against the other girl’s arm as she moved and scanned the page for a more difficult word that could be pronounced differently, depending on the dialect.
