Ostensibly this was to see the book clearer, but Cheyenne was warm, and smelled good, and Talyssa found herself shifting slightly closer than was strictly necessary. "Where I am from, I was taught of just one God. It is interesting to learn about a different religion."
She hoped that this was taken in the manner in which it was intended: respect, and curiosity, but not sarcasm or rudeness.
Obediently and carefully she repeated the sounds one after another as Cheyenne made them. Her skill with language made mimicry easy. She had known this. Speaking Cheyenne's language was never going to be hard for her—it was learning how to avoid speaking it that was going to be the challenge.
