Cheyenne had taken some ideas with her from her mistress, the Hecate worshipping witch professor, to whom the young Cerberus was bound as a familiar. Dr. Hallowfen had far more tolerance for people whose only fault was not knowing. Armed with patience and a book on the Greek alphabet, Cheyenne made her way up to the library.
She gave a respectful nod to the Gorgon librarian, Ms. Stheno, who was of the same world Cheyenne came from. The snakes were settled around her head in a scaly wrap like a crown and Ms. Stheno’s eyes, capable of turning a person to stone, were shielded behind sunglasses. Cheyenne asked her in the old language if she had seen Talyssa enter, and the Gorgon pointed out with a long clawed finger towards the history section.
Cheyenne walked quietly to where Talyssa waited. She wore one of Mr. Kaden’s flannel shirts that she’d “borrowed” from the werebear and it was huge on her, though Cheyenne liked how comfortable, warm, and soft it was. She eyed the girl as she approached from behind. This could either go really well or end in another shouting match. Ms. Stheno wouldn’t like that one bit, so they’d better keep it down.
“You’re early.” Cheyenne said by way of greeting and helped herself to a seat at the nearest table. She folded her legs beneath her and sat on her feet, her thin frame easily settling into a comfortable posture. The heavy Greek alphabet book was placed on the table with a soft thud. “Okay, ready to get started?”
