Sunrise by the Ladon Bonfire: Van and Tanek
Tanek had spent at least two thirds of his Halloween night with Sorin, until the spirit of the boy had told him he should at least have fun with some of his friends, because he still had some business to attend to. Tanek suspected Sorin was going to visit some old lovers - and, perhaps, Nick.
So Tanek had found Van and the elven twins and had dragged them along to House Kitsune, where they tackled some of the games and, together with baby-face Aktamun, they'd retreated Tanek's room to partake some of his stash. (Special for Halloween, Tanek had acquired some Patron-tequila.) And then, they had torn it up on the DDR-machine before exploring the rest of the school grounds.
And then they had come to the bonfire, where - after another hour of merriment and some more illicit drinking - Tanek had bid Sorin a tearful goodbye before the sun rose and whisked the spirits away. Gil was somewhere, cheering up his brother, and Van and Tanek were sitting on a log, somewhere away from the festivities.
Tanek's head was on Van's shoulder. "Tonight," he said, slurring slightly, "was a good night."
