Outside Sphinx Dorm: Max and Jack
Jack, meanwhile, had dressed more contemporarily, albeit still last century. He was dressed up as an old-fashioned pilot, all brown, beige and white. He wore thigh-high boots, there was fake fur on his collar and on his head there was a brown cap, complete with goggles. He had quite liked his outfit, but that was before Josephine had giggled and compared him to Amelia Earhart.
Right now, Jack was visiting House Pegasus. He always enjoyed the atmosphere there at Halloween: it was warm, noisy, filled with people both alive and dead. Like a Thanksgiving meal done more than right.
When he felt the tap on the shoulder, he averted his eyes from Mr. Visser laughing with a ghost with a bonnet on and turned around. "Mr. Price," Jack responded with a tight smile. They had briefly seen each other at the graveyard, but that had not been the right moment for introductions.
Jack would not call himself prejudiced, but he would call himself mistrustful. New teachers were always met with a wary eye, whether they were Dragon slayers, vampires or demons. And demons, well... Of course there was such a thing as a good demon - Davian had endeared himself to Jack very quickly - but there was no such thing as a demon without an agenda. And a demonic agenda was rarely pedagogical.
Still, Jack would try to play nice. For now. "Very nice costume, Mr. Price. How old were you again?"
