Leon smiled despite the very clear emotional distress his brother was undergoing. They'd made a breakthrough, it seemed. They were getting through to him and he was opening up, letting it out. It was a start.
"John," he said gently. "You didn't kill that Elder. He was old and dying before you got there. You tried to help. It's what you do." He reached up to carefully remove John's hands from his face to reveal his tear stained cheeks.
"And you're not an idiot," Van piped in. "I don't make friends with idiots." He smirked. "So it takes you a little bit longer. So what? We'll help."
