It was inevitable: with this many students and this many classes offered, everyone at the school had a free period or two every week. Some students took advantage of those hours to catch up on their homework or do something extra for a subject they loved, others took it as an opportunity to hang around and maybe smoke it up a little. Obsi was not yet ingrained enough to find any of that appealing: he was still wandering about, wide-eyed and curious.
Everything here was huge. Especially the hallways, with their high, vaulted ceilings. Sure, there were large rooms with tall ceilings in Kotarahi, but there, the scale made sense to him. But here...
At one of the tables that dotted the broader hallways, Obsi saw someone that he recognized. Not because they had interacted yet, but... Perhaps that would change now. The boy was sitting along, busy with something, but surely he would not mind being interrupted. Obsi approached the table and he tried to make it seem like he was getting on the chair naturally, but he was obviously climbing.
When he was done, he grinned broadly at the boy sitting there. "Hi," he said, "I know who you are. Van Carlyle."
