Xavier continued to prowl the outskirts of the party, walking along the tree line for a time, then stopping for a while. He wasn’t so concerned with the party itself. Xavier hardly knew any of them and it wasn’t really his scene, though he’d consider it more his scene than the political rally slash party that the elf student had thrown the night before. The people dancing caught his attention for a while, many bodies pressed close together. Watching made Xavier hungry. He was distracted from that by the erratically dancing Tanek. Xavier had taken note of some of his writings and had made a point to connect the name and writings to a face. He was one of the more interesting ones Xavier had observed so far. He smirked at the dance, his eyes keeping track of him even after he stopped.
A few minutes later, Xavier saw Tanek moving toward the trees, a drink in hand. He started to walk as well, toward the area Tanek was nearing. The teen seemed to be moving a little carelessly in the dark, no doubt due to some alcohol already consumed. When he was just an arm’s length away, Xavier reached out and grabbed him abruptly by the arm. “Watch it, man!”, he warned. “There’s a lotta tree roots here, gonna trip and break your neck.” He let go of his arm after a moment. “Got someone waiting for you?”, he asked, sounding curious as Tanek had seemed to be heading off into couple’s territory, though Xavier doubted he had anyone waiting.
