Mani glared at the bars in front of him. Just another couple of seconds and he would have been through them. Instead, he was probably going to end up with a bump on his head to go with his other scrapes.
Hearing Aktamun’s voice, Mani remembered the awkwardness the last time he’d done this. Instead of turning to face him, Mani looked over his shoulder at him. “It should’ve worked”, he said again. “That one’s still really hard for me, I can’t do it for long. So I’m not sure if it was that or if it was something about the bars. Maybe you’re right, maybe they’re enchanted or something. It would make sense, they are supposed to keep people in.”
He thought in silence for a moment before speaking up again. “I’ll give it at least one more go.” He took a deep breath. “Any tricks for me to help me center and focus?”
