Thread: Playing Hookey WHO: Kari Mido & Open! WHEN: Thursday after classes WHERE: The Woods
Kari was skipping the second half of classes today. After lunch she felt the amount of fucks she could give plummet to subzero. It would get her a detention since she had no excuse but she was willing to take the hit. St. Margaret's was actually a much better school than public school was. At least so far. It was weird going to a boarding school when her parents were just a few miles away. It was also weird not seeing the few new friends she'd made at the local high school. But she didn't hate St. Margaret's. It took adjusting. She liked the gothic feel of the church and how old everything felt. It was also cool to attend a school that had classes that taught her magic instead of playing by ear.
But today wasn't a good day to go to class. Tanek had been helpful in suggesting places she could go if she wanted to skip, and so she ventured into the woods with her sketchbook. She had her earbuds in with music playing as her black Doc Martins stepped over twigs and little bits here and there on the ground that crunched beneath the heavy boot. She wore a pair of black leggings a black top with a corset built into it. Around her neck was a thing black choker. At the bidge of her nose were a pair of black John Lennon style sunglasses while her hair was pulled into a messy top knot. Her makeup was goth with the black liner and dark almost-black red lipstick.
When she felt she was a reasonable enough distance away, she pulled a small towel from her backpack and set it up on the ground near a tree. It was a quiet, peaceful day. No one would ever think that not far from here there were vampires, gorgons, and even a dragon. But where Kari was? Just trees, a squirrel or two gathering items to keep for the long winter ahead, and her. She settled onto the towel and let her back press against the tree. Pulling out her sketchbook, she skipped to where she marked a blank page and stared at it, trying to figure out what to draw.
She started with some light touches of the pencil against the paper. What seemed like random lines soon began to take the shape of a girl hunched over as she looked down at something. Kari began to give her a dress of intricate design with small details that she would erase and replace with other ideas. She was consumed in her drawing when she heard the loud snap of a branch. She paused and then looked around, not seeing anyone.
She listened. Nothing.
"Hello?" she asked. Fear gripped her stomach into a tight fist. Knowing that there was something out there that wanted to torture and kill you tended to bring out the paranoia. She held her breath and waited.
