Who: Adri & Domino
When: Summer Vacation Baby!
Where: Seattle
What: Summer Vacation Baby!
Summer in the Maddox household was crazy. Domino had his two younger sisters who were out of school and for a couple weeks his older sisters took time off so the whole family could have some fun adventures. They were out bowling one night, when Domino decided to kill some time between frames while his mom and oldest sister went to order food and pulled out his phone.
“Ooo, you’re gonna get in trouble! Mom said no phones during family time!” One of his sisters chimed up.
Domino just glared at her. “Mom’s not gonna know.” He reached over and tickled her. “Is she?” His sister laughed and say ‘no’ and he gave her a kiss on the forehead before looking back to his phone. “Besides I just wanna check in with a friend, she kinda had a bad end of the year.” He stuck his tongue out at her and sent a text to Adrianna. [Hey sexy. How’s summer treating you? You know if you ever need to talk I’m here.]
His second oldest sister leaned on the seat behind him, looking over his shoulder. “Ooo, is it your girlfriend?”
Dom just rolled his eyes. “Gah, Lena. Can’t a guy get some privacy?”
“No phones Domino! Or I’ll take it away until the end of the night!” He heard the authoritative voice of his mother behind him and quickly tucked the phone back into his pocket with an apologetic look.
--------
The last few months of the school year had been rough on Adrianna, and she was ready to put it behind her. Logically, she knew what her problem was the entire time, just like she knew where her attraction and feelings for Liam had come from. No one hated her and the fact that she and Liam were both children of alpha caused a natural draw to one another. She wasn’t going to let either of those things run her life anymore, though. She needed to be her own person and experience her own things again. Otherwise, she was never going to be happy.
Being back in Chicago had been good for Adri so far. She reconnected with some of her old friends and advanced a little further in the treatment of her disease. It was just going to take a bit to get to a point where she could feel “normal”. The currently projected time for that to be was when she was set to graduate from St. Margaret's in about a year. Until then, she would just have to bide her time and work with the doctors to make her better. She would just be doing some traveling in the meantime. Which meant for an extra fun summer in her eyes.
She was getting ready to go out for the night when she saw her phone light up on the bathroom counter and smiled when she saw Domino’s name. She picked up her phone and read the text with a small chuckle before responding. [Summer is going to be treatment and partying. Speaking of, guess where I am going for a few weeks.]
--------
The reply didn’t come until later that night, once he got his phone back from his mother. He was laying in bed, technically he was supposed to be turning in for an early morning breakfast and ‘day of fun’. His sisters wanted to drive around to garage sales and look at peoples stuff. Honestly Domino enjoyed it as well, he’d found a few random instruments and old song books on occasion. But the early morning is what sucked. At least breakfast was donuts. But when he saw Adri’s text sleep seemed to be the last thing on his mind. [Hmm. Cancun? Tijuana?] He threw out some guesses. They weren’t completely random. A lot of people went to Mexico for more affordable treatments. And who knew, maybe they had what it took to help the wolf.
--------
Now that Adri was eighteen, she was able to go places on her own, and seeing as how both of her parents and both of her brothers were busy and not able to drop everything take her somewhere for treatment. While waiting for a guess from Domino, Adri began planning her trip. She sat in bed, shooting off other texts after booking her trip and hotel, knowing that public transportation would be able to get her around in the city. When she finally heard back from him, she smiled. [Oooh, good guesses. I’ll have to keep those in mind. But no, my first trip will be to a place where I may be able to convince you to get your face between my legs. ;)] In true Adri fashion, she said something a little on the crude side, rather than simply giving him the news that she would be travelling to Seattle where she could visit him.
--------
Domino grinned and was never happier to be the only boy in a house of girls, which meant he had a room of his own. He sat up in bed and chuckled to himself. [For a taste of your beautiful body, there’s not much convincing needed.]
--------
Adri let out a small chuckle at his response. She was definitely “back” and she couldn’t wait to unleash her true colors at school, but for now, her focus was on just one person. [I’m coming out your way just before the next cycle. The doctors there know what I am, and want to run some test the morning after the moon. It’s just safer that I go there before then. That means I’m all yours for three nights.] She sat back with a satisfied sigh as she waited to see just how excited he was that she would be coming out to see him.
--------
The young teen grinned. [And here I thought you were coming out because you missed me couldn’t resist me.] Dom glanced up to make sure his door was closed, that moment of ‘getting caught’ hit him as he knew he’d probably get his phone nabbed again if his mom knew he was up late texting. [So much to unpack. First, if you need a safe place to shift you can come with us. It’s secluded in the national park.] After all, it was only nice to offer. Granted, she may feel outnumbered like he did at school, more cats than dogs. [Or we know a pack in town that you can probably run with… don’t know where they go though] Then, there was one last thing he felt he needed to address. [Only three days? We’ll barely scratch the surface of fun. But I guess I’ll take what I can get.]
--------
Adri smiled as she read each of his texts and shook her head. [No, just three days of getting me all to yourself. They want to observe me the morning after the cycle. I’ll be there for at least a few weeks.] She paused before continuing. [I figure that I show them a worst case scenario and tire myself out as much as I can to see just how bad I can get.] She walked back to her bedroom, answering another text as she walked over to her bed, seeing if she was going to have any plans for that night. [You know, if we can arrange the alone time while we’re both all furry.] She sat down on her bed, relaxing a little.
------
Few weeks, Domino bounced a little in his bed at reading that. Oh, this summer was going to be a lot of fun! A knock on his door came moments before it opened. Dom had seconds to pull his blanket over his lap as the prospect of alone time with his schoolmate had gotten him a bit excited. “Mom!” He growled as she peeked in.
“Domino, what did I tell you about your phone? You should be asleep. I saw the light.” She held her hand out. “Come on, hand it over.”
He sighed slightly, gripping the device. “I’m sorry mom.” He spoke quickly, normally he could sweet talk his way out of trouble but his mother was another being all together. She knew all his tricks so he stuck with honesty- or at least close to. “My friend was just letting me know she’s coming out to Seattle. I don’t think you met her during parents week, but she’s been sick. There’s doctors out here who can help her.” He saw the concern fall onto his mother’s face and got hopeful. “She wanted to let me know because she doesn’t really know anyone out here and wanted to see if I could be there to help her… be her support.” Okay he had to be careful and not oversell it.
His mother sighed and nodded. “Alright Dom, ten more minutes and then I want you to sleep.”
Domino grinned. “Oh,” He caught her before she closed the door. “She’s… kinda one of us… I mean a were. Do you think she can join us? Her parents are sending her out alone and she won’t know where to go on the full moon.” When his mother nodded and said ‘of course’ and then closed the door Domino did a little fist pump in the air. [My mom said you can come with us. And I know a few places that are more secluded that my sisters and mom don’t bother me during the moons.] He couldn’t help but grin. [Never cross-species fooled around before. Could be fun.] Dom bit his lip and added. [And you know if you need someone to get through everything, as a friend. I’m here for you.]
------
A small chuckle came from Adri’s lips when she read “cross-species fooled around”. It wasn’t something that she made a practice of, herself. Her pack in Chicago was mostly werewolves, as was the case at school. She wondered if he had actually experienced anything sexual while transformed, now that she was thinking about it. [Lemme guess, you kept the reasoning PG?] She smirked, knowing that was most likely the case. She didn’t blame him, really. The only reason her parents knew that she was sexually active was because they had walked in on her on occasion once. [I do enjoy my time with you. You are the exact opposite of most of the boys that I find myself spending time with.] Pavel was the exception to that statement, but she didn’t really talk about him to anyone else anymore. She still considered him a friend, but she had chosen to leave the sexual aspect of their relationship in the past. [If things go to plan, you may need to carry me back on the last morning.] She added that last bit with a chuckle on her face, knowing just how exhausted she could get from changing.
--------
[Gave her the cliff notes.] Domino wasn’t sure if his mother knew he was sexually active or not. Granted he hadn’t fully become so since attending St. Margaret’s. But knowing him, she probably assumed as much… or wouldn’t be surprised. Still, he didn’t really want to think about his mom knowing he was having sex so he would avoid the topic when possible. [You hang out with too many dogs.] He said, adding a cat emoji to the text. Though his comment had a double meaning. He wasn’t actually bashing werewolves. [Can’t be looking for a fight. Make love, not war and some shit.]
Domino frowned at the last comment, he knew she was being serious but flirty at the same time. [A goal I plan on accomplishing.] he quickly added. [These arms will carry you whenever you need them. Just don’t be surprised if they get a little handsy.] He always sort of spike without putting too much thought into things, but hoped that she would feel secure in his words- but also smile.
--------
Adri couldn’t help but giggle as she read his responses. There was a part of her that felt like she was a bad influence, but the rest of her knew it and didn’t care. [Good idea. Parents don’t need to know everything that you are doing as long as you are safe.] And where that came from, she wasn’t sure exactly. Maybe she was starting to care about this guy. She had figured that since the specialist wanted to see her after the moon, than she should be as exhausted as possible when she went in to see them on the morning of the 30th.
She then sighed at his mention of dogs. [You’re not wrong about the men in my life. I seem to attract a type.] Aside from him being a part of the school pack, Adri wasn’t even sure how she started hanging out with Domino, but she was glad that she did. He was turning out to be the best thing that had ever happened to her. [You have my full permission ahead of time to be as handsy as like. I trust you.] Normally that was the type someone would refer to as “famous last words”, but she didn’t feel that was the case with them.
--------
And with a series of heart and sleepy emoji Domino signalled it was time for bed and dreams of the weeks to come…

The day of the next full moon
-----------
“Mom! I don’t wanna go! Kelly’s having a birthday party! This is so unfair!” Dom’s younger sister complained, following their mother down the hallway.
“I don’t care. You’re doing this.” The older woman looked at her son. “Domino, please handle your sister, I have to go pack the food.”
The time between finding out Adri was coming to visit and the first full moon had been a rollercoaster ride. His older sisters had returned to their lives and he’d sort of been relegated to babysitting his younger sisters. He didn’t mind all the time because, well he felt he owed his mother for everything she’d given up for him. But at that moment the last thing he wanted to do was wrangler his sister- who was old enough to know better- because any minute the doorbell would ring and Adriana would be there. With a sigh Domino took his sister aside, holding her shoulders. “Look… Do you like Kelly?” His sister nodded with a ‘yes’. “Do you want Kelly to get hurt?” ‘No’. “Then you have to come with us. Because if you go to the birthday party you’re gonna kitty out on them and eat them all.” His sister’s eyes got wide as she started to say she wouldn’t. Domino just nodded as if he knew something she didn’t know. Oh, it might have been a tad mean, but he just didn’t have the time for her.
Because, that moment the doorbell rang. The feline hurried down the hall and through the living room to the door. Pausing slightly to brush his hands down his shirt and through his hair which was in desperate need of a haircut he opened the door to see his friend. He’d texted her beforehand some important things to make sure she brought as they were basically camping out for the nights of the moon. “Hey! Come in. We’re still getting ready…” The house had the look of a house that was normally neat, but had recently been swept up in a whirlwind as camping supplies were scattered around the living room.
From the kitchen a woman’s voice called, “Who is it?”
“Mom it’s Adri.” Domino called back.
“Oh, good! I’m almost done here. Are you dont packing?”
“Not yet. Was about to go finish.” He called, gesturing to Adri to follow as he whispered. “About twenty minutes for her, at least.” Dom chuckled leading the way to his room. His room was full of posters of bands and musicians of all sorts. He had shelves full of sheet music as well as journals. Yea, there were clothes on the floor and the bed wasn’t made but he was a teenage boy- what did you expect.
Adri couldn’t help but smile as she walked through Domino’s house. She knew all too well what family life was like, and she always enjoyed seeing through other people’s perspectives. Once they were secure in his room, she sat down on his bed and looked around. She’d seen worse and in fact, her room had been worse on occasion. Not that she’d ever admit to it, though.
“I gotta admit,” she looked over to him as he continued getting ready. “I’m honestly surprised that I didn’t get harassed by your sisters on the way in here. Or is that still coming?” She smirked as she watched him, glancing at the door.
“Oh, it’s still coming.” Domino laughed. “We have a bit of a car ride ahead of us still. Plenty of time to interrogate you.” He was joking… sort of. “They’re honestly not that bad… unless you’re related. So I’m sure you’ll be okay.” He wasn’t sure.
Dom moved over to his dresser and pulled out some sweats and plain t-shirts to add to the normal clothes he had, that way he didn’t look like a total bum if they went out during the day. His sisters were lucky, they could wear a simple dress that was easy to strip out of both during the day and before the moon. He tended to wear clothing a bit tighter (because he had a body so why not flaunt it), but the sweats were easy to slip in and out of. He moved over to the bed and tucked them into the duffle bag, smiling slyly at Adri. “You might also get some questions from my mom… she kinda knows you’re sick but I didn’t give her any details- other than it’s not something we can catch… single mother… big of a germaphobe at times.” He zipped up his duffle and sat next to her. “It was kinda the only way I was getting away with texting you so much. Sorry.” He made a face. After he’d told his mom he was texting a sick friend she’d sort of gone easier on him. He’d sort of exploited that.
Adri smiled, nodding. “We all have parents. It’s sort of normal. I wouldn’t want to expose your sisters if it was something contagious. Plus, if it was, all the weres at the school would have it by now,” she pointed out with a smirk. She always found it amusing when someone got embarrassed by their parents, never thinking of the fact that their friend’s parents may be embarrassing as well.
She had he bag with her already, two different outfits to possibly change into each morning in case of a change in weather or mood. She looked up at Domino, tilting her head. “Thank you for doing this for me. I’m sure that I could have found somewhere else to go in the area, but it helps knowing someone in my condition. Who knows what could happen if I’m practically comatose when the cycle is over.”
Domino placed a hand on her leg. “What are friends for.” He said with a genuine smile. “Sides, any change to expose you to the way we cats do it.” Dom smirked and kissed her cheek. “I hope you can climb trees.” He teased her- not actually expecting her to climb with him.
“Dogs aren’t all so bad,” Adri shrugged as she pouted a little. “We just can’t climb very well.” She cleared her throat with a coy smile, “and uh… you missed, by the way.” She figured that it couldn’t hurt to get a little making out in before his mother and sisters got ready.
Oh she was good. Dom raised a hand to her cheek and brushed his fingertips over it as he pulled her into a kiss. Lips pressed against lips as his other hand ran down her thigh. Yea, there wasn’t a ton of time. But a little over the clothes fun was doable.
-----------
The next night, about an hour before transformation
-----------
Domino’s family had rented a small cabin in the National Park and had just finished up an early meal. His sisters were off in their room, and his mother was getting some work done while she could, leaving Domino and Adri at the table. When they’d arrived there were only two rooms, which was normal. Their mother slept in one room, the girls in the other and Dom slept on the couch. This time his sisters let Adri sleep in one of the beds in their room while they shared.
“How are you feeling?” He knew she’d looked pretty rough that morning after the first night. Domino rose from the table and started to clear the dishes. “Sorry my family isn’t being very sociable right now… you know how some get antsy before the change.” After they’d all woken up everyone had been very sociable, they even all played cards and shared a few stories- including how his sisters use to dress him up like a doll when he was little. But the later it got the more fidgety everyone seemed to get.
Adri shook her head with a smile as she tucked her hair behind her ear. “I like your family. Not everyone can be like me all of the time.” She smirked, glancing around before lowering her voice, “I don’t know how many times I’m already in the middle of fooling around when the moon rises while at school. It does make for interesting with those that can’t control their form as well.”
She looked around, admiring the cabin once more, “my pack in Chicago does something similar to this. We own a few cabins in a wooded area downstate. It’s just not practical for nearly fifty animals, mostly wolves, to be roaming around a metropolitan area,” she stated the obvious with a chuckle.
Setting some plates in the sink he laughed. “I can’t say I’ve actually been in that situation. We’re kind of a small group.” He admitted, returning to the table for the glasses. Domino always felt like he never completely lost himself during the moon- yes he definitely gave over to the animal like every other were, but personally felt as if he wasn’t completely gone. Maybe it’s because he felt so catlike as a human as much as a were. He set the glasses in the sink and glanced back at her. “Mom has never really let us run with other weres around… mostly because I don’t think she trusts the younger wolves around the younger cats- or at least not when we were all much younger. I couldn’t imagine being locked up in our home or risk running around the city and hurting someone- or being reported to animal control.” He chuckled.
Adri laughed, nodding. “That’s the risk we run living so close to the city. I get where your mom is coming from, though. I hope that she knows how much I appreciate her being alright with her joining you. I’ve been waiting for a possible solution to my condition for years. Now I’m so close to getting it that I can taste it.” She stood up, stretching out a bit, “so how are the little ones in kitty form? Do you know how they’ll react to me?” she asked in a serious tone, completely unsure of how in control they were when they changed.
“Not really ‘little’ anymore.” Dom laughed, his sisters were quickly approaching the age they’d join him at school. “But I’m sure they’ll be off on their own adventure. We’ve come a long way from cubs who need protecting.” He said as he started to rinse off the dishes and put them in the washer. “And my mom kinda didn’t have a choice- I mean sure she could have said no, but turning away a sick were? Woulda looked kinda crappy.” He smirked, it was the truth, though he knew that wasn’t the real reason his mom said yes. “But honestly, you’re a friend. My mom went to St. Margaret’s. She knows what it’s like, socializing with all sorts.” He nodded a little. “So, she trusts when I say you’re good people.”
“You know, I’m beginning to think that I was your first, or something,” Adri smirked, only half serious. She started to help him clean up a little as she looked outside. “I’m not used to this timezone,” she squirmed a little after a minute. “It’s like my body knows that it’s already dark back at the school.”
Domino laughed a little. Yea, he’d started school a virgin, but that had quickly changed. “Just the first who actually was up for helping me get better.” Which was true. You could only learn so much from videos, and experience was good but if no one told you how to improve then you would forever be mediocre. Being with a guy was a little easier as he knew what felt good on him and most of that translated, but with a girl was it more guessing. Adri had been the first to honestly help him get better. “And with your guidance I like to think I have.” He smirked at her, nudging her side gently as they finished loading the last of the dishes. “But I know what you mean… my skin’s already getting a bit itchy.” Dom said, rubbing his arm.
“That’s what you get from high school, though,” Adri nodded, rolling her eyes. “I’m happy that I could help, though. You’re probably the first boy that I came across that knew that it was about so much more than in,out, done.” Once the dishes were taken care of she leaned against him with a happy sigh. “I’m not sure how well that will translate at school, but eventually, you’ll come across someone who appreciates that trait just as much, if not more than, myself.”
Domino moved so her back was against the counter. He rested a hand on the counter, on either side of her and stood close. “Hey, I wanna have fun as much as the next guy, but what’s the fun if I’m the only one?” How could you be someone people wanted if it was all about you? “And I’m all for sharing the fun- with anyone, why not?” Dom didn’t know if he could ever see himself settling with just one person. There were so many fun people out there. “But I do like to be appreciated.” He smirked as he leaned in, brushing his lips along her neck- ears alert for any footsteps.
Adri smiled, her eyes fluttering shut. “You see, little things like this make it so much better,” she slipped an arm around to keep him close. Sure, what they were about to do wasn’t exactly in the wild. Which was going to make it quite the sight for anyone who happened to see it, but she didn’t care. “Careful there,” she giggled. “You don’t want me to be ready before we shift, do you?”
“Nothing wrong with a little heat…” His warm breath cascaded down her neck from that point it meets the jaw. He’d never been this close, this intimate with someone before the change. At school most the people he’d been with- save for Adri- weren’t were and so he was typically alone when the shifting started. The smell of her seemed a bit more intense and his desire to ‘claim’ her even more so. Domino moved to her ear, his cheek brushing against hers as he spoke. “You smell so good.” He said without much thought. God everything itched.
There was definitely heat. Being this close to someone whom she desired to “mate” with always did it for her. Especially as the sun was going down. She closed her eyes and bit her lip. “Is the Kitty up for it?”
-----------
The next morning
-----------
Sun hit his face and the large feline cracked open his eyes and yawned. Uncurling his body from around the wolf’s, he stretched before leaning down to nuzzle her awake. He could feel that pressure that seemed to bind him into form during the full moon release as if to say ‘you can change back now’. Chuffing slightly he coaxed the wolf awake and purred happily. The previous night had been a good one- what wasn’t a bit dreamlike by the animal takeover, the two of them had pretty much been left alone as they’d ventured deep into the woods. There clothes were about a mile or so away, where they’d started the evening and while he normally didn’t mind the long trek back in cat or human form, he knew Adri wasn’t going to be in a good way and would follow her lead.
He brushed the side of his head against her’s in a comforting manner, as if to inquire how she was.
As the sun rose, Adri felt herself slowly waking up. She could tell that her body was tired and achy, though. It was always that way, though. She couldn’t remember a morning when she woke up after shifting and feeling refreshed. It had gotten better, but she knew that she should be 100% every morning. Hopefully with these new doctors and latest round of treatments, she would start getting closer to just that. It took a bit longer to shift into human form than what would be considered “normal”, but she wasn’t in any hurry, anyway.
After waking up a little more, she reached an arm around him for support as she carefully got up, groaning a little. She felt a smile on her face despite the fact that she was still in wolf form. She had a good night, and she had picked the perfect company to spend it with. She wasn’t ready to turn yet, so she getting up on four paws to start walking some of the way back.
Domino followed closely beside, making sure she was okay. He drifted that line between hovering and just being cautious. After a little while he stopped short, his ears perked to the path on the right as he sniffed at the air. Her nose was better than his so he was sure she’d picked up the scent before her. People… and not his family. Quickly he nudged her in a direction and moved across the path and into a bush, getting down really low to the ground. Hopefully they could keep low and out of site until whoever it was passed and then get back to the cabin safely.
There was a brief moment of panic within her when she smelled an unfamiliar scent nearby. She went to look over to Domino just as he nudged her and moved to a bush. She nodded and quickly moved over to it, hoping that the other people would just pass by and go about their business. She was exhausted, but she was able to put everything that she could into staying aware of their surroundings. When they were at school, they never had to worry about such things, and it was an easy sense of security to fall into. This was a more public place. Something she even ran into a bit at home, but not as much. She kept an eye out as much as she could, taking a calming breath as they waited.
His breathing seemed to slow as he lay in wait, ready to pounce if need be, but hoping to just wait it out. Two men came down the path, they appeared to be park rangers chattering about life at home. They seemed to take forever to pass, maybe it was because Dom was worried about Adri, or that he knew his mom would be expecting them back by now but the hair bristled on his back as he waited and watched. Eventually, the two men passed them, but Domino stayed low until they were out of sight and could no longer be heard. Slowly he got up and nuzzled Adri slightly before backing out of the bush. His nose sniffed a the air, just in case, and once he was certain they were in the clear he started to lead the way again. They weren’t too much farther out, another five minutes or so and he expected to see the Cabin.
Adri waited a few moments after the smell was completely gone before carefully getting back up and joined Domino in the journey back to the cabin. She kept on high alert, not wanting to even have a close call, where they could be spotted by normal humans. If they were, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to shift back to human form quickly enough to use the excuse of being hungover and pranked by friends, thus being left to make their way through the forest nude. At the same time, she would have to admit that it would be funny if they were to resort to something like that. Until then, she was more than content taking a leisurely stroll in her current state.
They finally got to the cabin and the tree their clothes were stashed in. Domino climbed up and nudged the backpack off the branch, sending it toppling to the floor below. He then joined Adri on the ground and proceeded to shift back. He knew from school it would take her longer than him so he was able to put on some pants and ready the loose dress she had for when she was done.
After watching him shift back, Adri took a deep breath as she began shifting as well. Sometimes, it was easier, but this time it was taking her a bit longer. Which was exactly what she wanted. Once she was back in human form, she winced as she stepped toward Domino to put her dress on so that she could go lay down for a bit. She gave him a grin, letting him know that he did good before leaning against him, barely able to stand for a moment.
His hand slipped around her waist as he supported her. “I got you.” It was just the first night, he was almost scared to see her on the last.
----------
The Doctors
----------
The appointment was after the moons and his mother managed to make good time between the cabin and the city, but there wasn’t enough time to drop everyone off before Adri’s appointment so his mother offered to take her to the office herself. And pick her back up if she needed. Sitting in the back seat as they pulled up to the office, Domino (who was sitting in the middle) looked to Adri and reached down to take her hand. “You got this?” He asked, as if to ask if she wanted to go it alone or have support.
“Come with me?” she looked to him with tired eyes. She wasn’t sure if she would go as far as having him actually come into the office with her, but she at least wanted him with her while she waited in the lobby. As much as she was happy to get treatment after finally getting a proper diagnosis, actually seeing a doctor still made her nervous. “If that’s OK,” she looked over to Domino’s mother for approval.
Domino’s mother nodded, though the boy didn’t even look at her when he said, “Of course.” He figures his mother had no reason to say no.
Following her out of the car, Domino remained by her side for support if she needed it- physically as well as emotionally. “You got this. And in no time you’ll be begging to go runnin with you.” He said with an encouraging smile.
Adri giggled as they sat down in the waiting room. “This should help my endurance on the field, as well. If I pick things up this year, I’ve got the whole scholar athlete thing going for me. I got a little paranoid about that stuff for a while a couple of months ago. For some reason, I forgot that I really just needed to stop and actually try. At the same time, everyone seemed to forget that I am a web designer when the little nerd squad in your grade started going to St. Margaret’s.” She shrugged, smiling. She knew that this was a good for her and she was really looking forward to it.
“Maybe they just didn’t know.” Dom shrugged slightly. “You don’t have that nerdy vibe, that’s for sure.” Domino was definitely not a nerd like the others, unless it came to music or musical theatre. He didn’t hang out with most of them either- except his little vampire friend. But he’d met Ash talking about fashion, not computers. “Also you’re in a band- or was… we’ll see if that’s still a thing next year.” He tried to provide her a bit of a distraction as they waited. “If not we’ll have to jam out together still.”
“It’s hard telling what’s going to happen one day to the next with guys like Liam,” Adri shrugged. “And yeah… my standard year, I was designing website for people left and right. Just like I was always partying, and everyone knew my name. I didn’t have someone who hated me, because they took a situation at face value and wouldn’t allow me to explain any further back then, either.” She shrugged with a laugh, shaking her head. “So yeah, after all my paranoia over feeling like everyone might hate me, only one person does.”
Dom shook his head. “Well, that one person is missing out. Their loss,” he took her hand. “I guess my gain. Besides sometimes you just need a solid friend, yea?” One with benefits didn’t hurt. “And next year you’ll get to reinvent yourself. Which reminds me. We’re totally going to have to go shopping for clothes for the new school year- or at least the perfect outfit to wear day one. Show the new, confident, fuck the haters Adri.” He said with a smirk.
“There was a time when I would respond to that with ‘literally’,” Adri shook her head at herself, smiling. “Only partly because I reasoned that they would like me more if I brought them pleasure. Such a juvenile way of thinking,” she waved it off with a shrug. “But yes, Advanced year will be like my Standard year was.”
He couldn’t help but laugh slightly. “Probably not the best way to go about it- but I probably can’t talk.” Domino was actually very much the person who would sleep with someone just so they’d like him.
Adri nodded as she looked up when her name was called. “Not the best practice, but it’s hard to avoid it at times.” She shrugged as she stood up, holding her hand out to him.
He took her hand and stood up. “You sure? I don’t mind waiting out here.” Domino was anything if not accommodating.
She bit her bottom lip, giving a cute pout. “It’s just the consultation part. I’ll get nervous.” It was more serious than she had made it sound. Plus, she figured it would help to have someone in there to back up her descriptions of her symptoms and whatnot.
“With that look… how could I not?” He smiled and followed her in.
The consult went as well as could be expected. Lots of questions, lots of information, lots of plans for the future. As they waited outside for Dom’s mother he squeezed Adri’s hand. “He seems like he knows what he’s talking about. A real pro.” And at least semi-confident he could help her.
Adri nodded with a smile, looking down. “Helps that he knows what we are, too. It does sort of factor into things. That’s why he was referred to me. I think that things are going to be better when we go to school in the fall. None of you boys will have to worry about carrying me back to my dorm. Not that any of you have complained,” she nudged him with a smirk.
Domino leaned close, nuzzling the side of her head slightly. “Don’t have to be sick to find yourself in my arms.” He teased. “So, how do you wanna celebrate the start of your treatment? We can go to a big buffet and eat till we can’t move. A movie. Mini-golf. Anything.”
Adri raised an eyebrow with a smirk, tilting her head, “my, my. Are you asking me on a date, Domino Maddox?” She giggled, nudging him with her elbow.
“If you want to call it that.” Domino laughed. “I just think you deserve a little celebration. After all, this is huge and probably a bit scary. Gotta mark it with something awesome.” The teen hadn’t actually ‘dated’ anyone before. It wasn’t that he couldn’t, but he didn’t really see the point. After all, there were so many people out there to get to know. Though, Adri sort of had the same outlook on things. Probably why they got on so well.
Adri shrugged, “not necessarily a date, but I’m all for calling it that if anyone asks.” She nodded as she saw his mom’s car pull up. “Dinner and a movie. Let’s shut a place down.” She hadn’t really “dated” either, but it was fun to joke around about it, if not actually start doing it somewhat with a like minded person.
“Sounds like a plan.” Dom smiled as his mom pulled up. “A date it is.” He laughed, opening the door for her.
