Sasha Returns Part 1
When he got the text that Sasha would actually be coming back after visiting Mike instead of going back to school or something, Pavel was thrilled. The whole week he was gone his sister accused him of moping about. In truth he hadn’t had a ton of time to mope as his Aunt kept him busy readying the house for the family who would be out the next week. Of course when Pavel said he wanted to pick up Sasha from the airport and make him a sign, his sister and Aunt jumped at the chance to help.
Yuila drove him to the airport and dropped off her little brother, telling him to text when they were ready for the pick up. DIA was a large airport pretty much in the middle of nothing, that looked like mountains from a distance. Thankfully the Fae had found out which airline Sasha would be flying on so he could meet him at the right place where the different airlines dumped out. Basically it was one side of the airport or the other. Personally he was dressed casually, jeans and a t-shirt with a long shirt underneath and his gloves. Since he’d be in a crowded place he didn’t want to risk touching anyone.
He stood there eagerly holding up the sign that said Sasha’s name. Pavel has decorated the purple letters in pink glitter. For the briefest of moments he felt a little odd standing there with such a flashy sign, but as he saw the half-demon appear at the top of the escalator he just didn’t care anymore. He stood along a roped off section to people didn’t clog the escalators, smile goofily slapped in his face.
Sasha hated flying, especially on his own. For someone who’d spent much of their life underground, being so high above it...just didn’t feel right. Plus there was the fear of the plane breaking down and falling out of the air, or getting struck by lightning, or some other such catastrophe.
With his current trip there was also the added risk that maybe Pavel and his family wouldn’t want him back. Maybe they’d just said yes on the phone but really they weren’t planning to pick him up at all. Ultimately he could only trust the fae’s word, and that made him feel a little bit sick; if his parents had changed their minds about keeping him, a boy from school and his family could easily do it as well.
He’d sent Pavel a barrage of texts before he’d had to turn his phone onto airplane mode for take off, and as soon as he landed in Colorado he switched it off to see what messages had come through. They were leaving the house. They were in the car. They were on their way. They were at the airport. They were waiting for his flight to come in. Sasha read the messages over as he disembarked the plane, the combination of solid ground beneath his feet and a clear timeline of confirmations soothing his worries as he made his way to where Pavel was waiting.
Boarding the escalator he checked through the words and images one last time as he brushed a few stray hairs behind his ear and scanned the crowd of waiting people for Pavel.
It didn’t take long to find him.
The half-demon’s stomach did a little flip when he saw the fae standing there holding a glittery sign with his name written on it in pink and purple. He laughed and turned away for a moment, but when he turned back he was beaming at Pavel. Once Sasha reached the bottom of the escalator he rushed around the rope barrier and would have pounced on the other teenager then and there if he hadn’t stopped himself. Instead he stood in front of the boy, feeling both awkward and not as he held Pavel’s gaze and smiled. “Hi.”
“Hi.” Pavel responded, beaming a little. He noticed Sasha didn’t have his bags with him so he tilted his head. “Let is go to carousel for bags.” As they started to walk the Fae glanced over to the other teen. “How was it with Mike?”
