Cascada glared at Alicia's response, though it didn't hold the venom it should have. Much of her ferocity had begun to wane as she was fully aware that Bushara could not possibly lie to her when under the influence of the ring. She clutched the ring tighter as she struggled to gather herself again.
"Then why..." Cascada's voice cracked as she began to speak again, so she stopped for a moment as she collected herself. "Why did she not return to her home?"
Bushara stared at the girl. There was something in her eyes that Cascada did not like. They looked like the eyes of someone who felt pity for another. "I only exiled her," Bushara told the girl. She looked to Alicia trying to decide how much danger the girl she loved was in before doing something that could cause the other djinn could feel was threatening.
She stepped closer to Cascada. "I assure you," she told her, "I do not know."
Cascada's eyes went back and forth between the two other girls. This was not how this was supposed to happen. Bushara was supposed to confess to what she had done. Cascada didn't care about their father; after all, he was the one that stole her mother away from her. It was supposed to be her mother that Bushara confessed about so that she would be able to be punished for her crime. She was supposed to admit it, and even though it had not been planned, Alicia being there was supposed to sweeten the pot even more. How could Bushara not be the one responsible?
"Alicia," Bushara said as she continued to approach Cascada, "If you have your phone, could you please call my phone and tell the person who you are." Her voice was now gentle as she spoke. "Then ask him to tell you what happened to Gisela Vela."
