Thread: Shutting Down WHO: Caitlin Murphy and John Tohquah WHEN: Monday afternoon WHERE: The Woods
Caitlin was shutting herself off, not that it took much effort for her to do that. She didn't have many connections, and those had dwindled by 50% after she told Van she didn't want to talk to him. She said not for a while but she wasn't sure if she ever wanted to talk to him again. The assumptions about her behaviour added insult to injury. Avoiding him helped not think about it, but truth be told it still hurt even when she wasn't around him. Unfortunately, she couldn't avoid him entirely. She would be meeting with Ms. Menides now, and would have to pass by Van on her way to speak to the headmistress. Caitlin was closing in no herself.
But she still had John. The two weren't horribly close, and they didn't hang out all the time but John was someone she would still talk to. And now she was walking with him as he gathered materials for his spells. Being someone who didn't actively use magic, and also someone who wasn't going to tell everyone where his harvesting spots were, she was trusted to accompany him.
It was a sunny day with some clouds passing by. Still cool enough for Caitlin to need a sweatshirt, worn with jeans and her sneakers which were falling apart. Truthfully, she wasn't sure why she was there. Caitlin wanted to get back to Arizona, a place she previously avoided. Now it seemed like the place to be, only locked away in her room if she was in Gayle's house at all. Anywhere seemed better than here.
"How often do you have to get materials?" she asked by way of saying something. Caitlin thought about the desolate future that Ms. Menides showed her. It affected her more than she wanted to admit. She'd reacted angrily because it was the only way she knew how to. Maybe that's why she was there with John. As much as that future was what she expected, she didn't like it. She didn't want it.
