"Gawk at me?" Van blinked in surprise and his hand came up to close around the necklace he always wore. Would someone actually try to take it? He couldn't tell if she was being serious or not, so he saved his questions for later, when he could ask them to Gil.
"Nothing wrong with an ego," Van smirked. He was glad that her movie was being so well received, seeing as it was her first attempt. He was glad, after seeing what she had to go through with all the press and people prying into your life, that his own had kept to a separate, more niche of a genre. The silent film was an art form unto its own. And certainly not one that Mr Farrell knew about or appreciated. That satisfied Van enough.
"I don't really care how mine does there. I just wanted the free trip to California." He gave Felicity a sidelong look and chuckled. "But I'm sure Farrell will count it as a small redemption of his teaching credentials if it doesn't at least place. So, to that I hope I get something."
Van slipped the elegant wedding invitation into his jacket and stood up to wander around her room. He noted things here and there, touched a shelf and drummed his fingers.
"So I'm dating your future brother-in-law. That's a thing that's happening." Van knew she already knew, but if she had anything to say about it, now was a good time.
