Van was seated in one of the other chairs in the room. He was sitting sideways to that his legs were draped over one plush armrest and his back rested against the other. He was searching through his phone, occasionally getting a reply back from Gil who was out with his twin, god knows where. Van was glad for the invite from Felicity to come hang out. It was nice to be out of detention for the night, but it was even nicer to have actual plans. Gilderoi had no trouble sneaking into Hydra through Van's window so that they could spend time together, but other than his classrooms, the dining hall, his room, and Ms. Hallowfen's face, Van didn't get out much these days.
Van glanced over at Felicity as she stood at the mirror, seeing how she examined how big her baby bump was looking. He knew she'd gone to Cannes recently and knew there hadn't been any news reporting that she was pregnant, so at least that was a win for her. Felicity and Van had been friends since their first year at the Academy together, and Van was a bit protective of her.
He dropped his phone onto his lap when she passed him the envelope. Turning it over curiously, there was no mistaking what was inside. Wedding invitation. Van was stuck between being grateful and being stunned a non-elf was allowed to attend, so he missed the opportunity to offer Felicity his chair.
Van sat up and swung his legs over to sit properly in the chair. "I'm not going to get shot or anything, am I?" He was half-teasing, and smirked. "Actually," Van chuckled. "I had a speech prepared to give Gil if he didn't make me his plus one. So this gets him off the hook." He waved the envelope.
"How did Cannes go?" Van had his own second event, the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, to go to at the end of the month, but California was no France.
