Thread: Conversation Sunny Side Up WHO: Ewan Carlyle and Tanek Horvath WHEN: Thursday afternoon WHERE: Duke's Diner
The job at Duke's Diner paid decently. The conversion rate was something Ewan was getting used to, but it wasn't hard to keep track of things. It just sucked when it came time to wire money back to Scotland and find that it didn't equate with as much in pounds sterling as they did in US dollars. But money was money, and if he could help ease the debt his family picked up on his behalf to send him here to be with Van, it was what it was. The job wasn't that hard either, and Ewan kept in good spirits. He spent most of his time cooking as opposed to serving.
He was taking care of the counter this time though, as they were short-handed out in front. An employee had to call off sick, so he was taking care of some orders out in front. He would go back to the kitchen if it got too busy back there. He wore a simple gray T-shirt that sat well on him. It wasn't very tight but the way it fit him made it clear there was plenty of muscle underneath. He wasn't allowed to wear his hat in the restaurant, so his dark hair was tossled. He never put much effort into it, but it always seemed to fall just right. Effortlessly handsome, one might say. The white apron around his waist protected worn jeans from the stains of his work.
Tanek had arrived only a moment before, taking a seat at the counter. Ewan made his way over to him, "Och, hoo yoo dooin', mate?" He placed one of the laminated menus in front of the other boy. Tanek helped Ewan get the job, and he was also a friend of Van's. Van and Ewan had a text conversation a couple of weeks ago about how Van was handling his relationships. It didn't go well. Tanek could maybe offer some insight into Van though, so Ewan was inclined to talk to the boy and pick his brain.
"Whaddya havin'?" he asked, plucking out the menu pad from the front pocket of the apron.
