The Edge of the Woods: Listening to Trees
"What are you doing?"
Sara was on the ground when Barclay jumped back down. She looked up in the tree, her basket containing three eggs already, and then blinked at Barclay, "They're hidden up in the trees, too?"
She'd spent the greater part of an hour hunting around the forest floor, using her sense of smell to locate hidden eggs in the brush, around the tree roots, and placed between rocks. At one point she had put her basket down and shifted form, black nose sniffing the path a teacher must have taken to hide an egg under a log. She'd snagged the egg delicately with her fox teeth and carried it back to the basket to place inside, quite proud of her resourcefulness.
