“I was not aware of that.” That made Mani feel a little less out of place in this new setting. He took another bite and chewed as he was told more about the school.
“So you do. I thought you might.” Mani gave him a friendly smile. Witches felt familiar to him, even though their utilization of magic was much different than his. He made a bemused face when his height was mentioned. “Yes, I am”, he told him, as if being Standard was a good reason for being short. Mani knew his family tree though and knew he wouldn’t likely be getting much taller than he was now. “I’ll be sixteen in October”, he added, as if to justify that he was young but not that young.
Mani adjusted his bag strap against his shoulder. “I guess we should probably start heading toward class.”
