Within the Funhouse: Ryuuko & Open
Ryuuko didn't wear a costume because she didn't like any of the ones that she had access to. She was only allowed at the dance for a brief period of time though because she had a bed time still. Even if she was, technically, the same age as many of the students there, she was still a child in many senses of the word. Blake was in charge of the punch, even though it was getting spewed out of a unicorn that shot fire. Ryuuko didn't understand its purpose other than to be extravagant.
She stood outside the Funhouse. With Blake in charge of the punch bowl, her access to things was limited. Ryu had a stuffed toy under her arm that a student won for her in the ring toss. It was a Hello Kitty toy almost the same size as her. In her other hand she had a half-eaten candied apple. She licked at her lips, wiping the excess sugar off with her tongue. The Funhouse seemed like some place that was pretty popular, as students went in and out laughing. She was curious.
As a group of students entered, she managed to sneak in among them, making her way inside the place. The other students went ahead and she took her time, wandering through and looking at everything. She laughed at a few things and was actually enjoying herself pretty well until she came into a room and she was staring at herself. She blinked at the mirror, taken by surprise.
Mirrors were an iffy thing with her. She didn't look too much in front of one when she got ready. She only did it to make sure she liked what she saw and then instinctively moved away. Her bedroom lacked a mirror and nearly any other reflective surface that could function as one.
Ryu turned away only to find herself staring into another one. And then another one. And another one. And another one.
Her muscles tightened and she exhaled shakily, trying to hurry through the small maze of mirrors but finding her path blocked here and there by more of herself. The mirrors appeared to surround her, trapping her within and she dropped the toy onto the ground. Ryu squatted down and closed her eyes, cover her head with her arms, slowly but surely slipping into a state of anxiety.
