Thread: When Pigs Fly
WHO: Hayden and Natalia
WHEN: Saturday, April 28
WHERE: Sphinx dorm
If there was ever a time to ask someone out in the corniest way possible, High School was that time. Hayden had been holding off, still in a weird place, it felt like, with his girl friends Alicia and Fred. He thought maybe one of them would ask him to go, in defiance of the old fashioned belief that the guy had to ask the girl and not the other way around. He'd tried not to take it personally as day after day passed and still no invitation. Hayden would still attend the dance, of course. He wasn't going to miss one second of a Hydra chosen themed dance. He honestly couldn't wait to see what they'd come up with to go with the theme.
He was about to snag Alex as his date, but then something impossible happened. Natalia. The gorgeous dark haired Standard. Once Hayden had spoken with Natalia, and having been absolutely floored that she wanted him to ask her to the dance, he set to work. It didn't take much to convince one of the shops in town to let him use their helium tank. What was difficult was getting so many pink helium filled balloons back to the school without Natalia spotting him.
Safely stowed away in his room, Hayden put on some nicer clothes and broke out his sharpie marker. He climbed into a giant empty chest freezer's cardboard box that he had salvaged from behind an appliance store. He ducked down inside and with the help of his friends, had each of the 30 or so balloons (a couple had popped) drawn on and placed inside above him. The box was then taped shut and delivered by several other Kitsune Standards outside Natalia's door at the Sphinx dorms.
On the outside of the box was written, in fat sharpie marker, the words: "When will I ask you to the dance?"
Once opened, all 30-ish balloons rose to the ceiling, bumping and crowding one another. As they turned and bounced, one could see that there was a pig face drawn on each one in the same fat sharpie marker. Each balloon also had a curly tail made out of ribbon.
Hayden then jumped out, holding in one hand an over-sized hot pink poster board that read: "When pigs fly!"
In the other hand was a bouquet of pink daisies. He held them out to her with a silly grin on his face. He'd left behind the strap-on pig's snout, deciding it might be too much. Instead he wore his suit jacket and white shirt with his black jeans, hoping it was enough of a touch of classy to convince Natalia that he wasn't all jokes and pranks. "Will you go to the dance with me?"
