Therese had done everything she could to make this musical especially grand. She had worked with each of the members of the volunteer band to make sure that they were well prepared, she had helped everyone who had to memorize lines, and she even did what she could to help those who did not feel especially confident about their singing abilities. Some of her friends had even asked where she had been lately due to how much work she had gone into this musical, but she wanted to make certain that it would be up there with her best.
It had been unfortunate that no one wanted to be the narrator; however, she decided that she might as well take it upon herself to do that role. It was an important role in the actual musical even if it had been completely cut from the movie version which many of the children were more familiar with. It did take a little work on her part to rework any singing that was done by the narrator, but luckily she wouldn't have to worry about any solos with that; after all, she didn't want to steal the light from the children. Despite this musical being important to her, it was still the children's show and she wanted all eyes on them.
In the middle of the musical, there would be an intermission as this particular musical had two parts which almost seemed like two entirely different shows. During the intermission, there would be some drinks available, but the real treat would be at the end of the entire production when everyone would be told to gather in the cafeteria. There the room had been decorated with a theme that suited the musical, and everyone would be able to socialize with each other, get some food, and most importantly speak with the actors and crew of the musical.
So as the curtain came up and Therese made the opening announcements, she was in good spirits which she would hope would last the entire night.
