Liam was going to discard of Sasha, hoping he learned his lesson about minding his own business. But he'd made the mistake of turning away from Van. He turned his head in time to get hit in the face. No time to brace himself this time for the blow, and god damn it hurt. He was on the ground and looking up at Van, who was transforming. Bewilderment and shock colored Liam's features, and he went to move his hands to cover his hears to quiet the freaky sound coming out of Van's mouth.
Van bit him. His fucking horse face bit him. Teeth sinking into his flesh and Liam grunted, trying to regain his senses past the pain in order to retaliate. Even if the full moon was another week away, and even if he'd grown up a were, knowing what he was capable of, the transformation mixed with pain was enough to start forcing one from Liam. A growl in his throat and gnashing his teeth, trying to work through the pain.
Ewan was already on the move. Most of the fighting had halted when Van had made that noise. It called to Ewan, demanding he act too. But he didn't act in the way it wanted him too. He suppressed the desire to change and join Van in chewing on their classmate.
"Fookin' 'ell," he said and rushed over to his brother, grabbing Brendan by the arm, "Ge'off, ye bampot!" He jerked the other boy away, forcing him to the side and then grabbed Van by the mouth, using his own strength to pull the teeth out of Liam's shoulder. It took a lot of strength, most of what he had. Kelpie were known for having jaw strength powerful enough to drag animals into the deep without too much trouble.
When it was far enough apart, another student pulled Liam away, and Ewan wrangled his brother, and now grabbed him by the jaw, forcing him to look at him. Ewan's eyes the whole time were a red color. He breathed and stared right into Van's eyes. He said nothing, using their connection as kelpie and brothers to start bringing his brother back, all the while battling his own instincts to join him.
