Academy Halls: Mike, Mrs. Karasik, and Sasha
The first thing Mike's mom did upon arriving was give him a massive hug and a huge kiss. If that wasn't embarrassing enough, she starting fussing over him. She asked about his inhalers, his medications, and interrogated him about school sports. Mike explained he wasn't forced to play or anything when his asthma was too agitated (which he believed was most of the time). Then they went through the classroom visits, and she spoke to his teachers. None of them really had anything negative to say about Mike. He was a good student. He turned in all his homework assignments completed and on time, and they expressed how excited they were to see how things developed.
For the most part, Mike was fine until someone spilled the beans about him getting bullied by Van. That lit a fire under his mother's ass and she was fuming. Mike tried to give her a tour, but she kept pestering him to point out Van when he saw him, which, of course, meant that's exactly what Mike didn't do.
She was still in something of a huff when Mike saw Sasha. A good distraction was a friend. "Sasha!" he called out to his blond friend, "Hey, come here!" He waved the other boy over and his mother now looked intrigued.
"Is that your girl—" she started asking before Sasha got there and Mike said, "No. That's Sasha. You know, the boy I told you about who is my friend." Mrs. Karasik's eyes widened and then narrowed, scrutinizing Sasha from head to toe, as if deciding if Mike was lying to her or not. Mike had mentioned Sasha to his mother before. By the time that Sasha arrived to the two of them, she'd made her verdict.
"Hey, Sasha, this is my mom. Mom, his is Sasha," Mike said, shoving his hands into his pockets. Mike's mom did what people would expect from a Texan woman, she grabbed Sasha and pulled him into a hug, "Oh, it's so nice to finally meet you!"
