Mike didn't know for sure if he was allergic to almonds or not but his mother said he was and he believed her. Her exact words were "We shouldn't risk it if you are or not." So he went on believing he was allergic to almonds, even when he should have questioned it. He had no reason to not question it. He felt bad when Sumi had suggested pizza, because he'd recognized a vegan when he saw one. He was a guy, he noticed food. He noticed all of her food didn't seem to have any animal product or byproduct. He was grateful that Derrick had suggested an alternative, but he sort of wanted to punch him for the way he spoke at him. Talked to him like he was an all-knowing adult.
He hid the grimace at the thought and instead focused on hanging out with people. Mike was nervous about seeing Ashley. They hung out still but he felt like he was being a huge coward by not taking steps forward. But he didn't know what to do and he sure didn't want to take advice from the porn he watched or romantic comedies.
"Wow, this is great," he put a smile on his face when he saw the dough already prepared, "This is awesome, Sumi." Mike grinned and went to look closer at the pizza, "I'm so glad I don't have a gluten allergy. I'd so be missing out."
Mike had brought some toppings with him. Just some grilled chicken. He would've brought sausage and bacon but he felt weird eating pig products. He didn't consider himself a practicing Jew but he never had it growing up and giving it a try seemed like it would have his grandparents show up and shout at him.
