"Just because you were faking it doesn't excuse you from tool behavior," Mike retorted, "And I'm excited because a girl is showing some interest in me. So you start breaking down the fact that my date wasn't actually a date, and then when I tell you she likes me, you're like 'Oh, she's talking to you like a grandma!'" Mike did his best imitation of Derrick, which was actually pretty good since he mimicked some of his friend's expressions too.
He went on, "So I get a bit excited about a girl and then it's like 'You care more about her than our friendship!' I thought friendship was we could talk about this stuff and be happy for each other, not shit on each other."
Mike was feeling a little breathless and reached for his inhaler but then ignored it, turning to look straight ahead again.
"You act like I'm spending all my time with her and ignoring you, which, by the way, I'm not and haven't been—" he made a face with a shake of his head and then pulled the tissue away to observe it. He didn't feel anymore blood, and he felt kind of congested. That was a good sign.
