"You shut up," Derrick hissed back. He looked away again, but he could see in his peripheral vision that Mike turned towards him. Derrick was prepared to tell him to shut up again if Mike shot it back at him, but instead the other boy turned away.

At Mike's question, Derrick's eyebrows stitched together and he looked at him with a scowl. "No. I'm not messing with that battery powered plastic clock." He glanced at it and narrowed his eyes. "But I could if I wanted to." He boasted.
