Dear Ms. Bainbridge,

Please accept my sincerest apologies for publishing personal and private information about you in my last article printed yesterday (March 4, 2018). I recognize now that sharing that information with the school was the worst possible thing I could have done to undermine the safety and security of not only the little one, but the happiness and peace of you, its mother, and Galadari, its father. It was terrible of me and I'm very sorry.

Having seen that my actions have caused both you and him to need to go on the defensive, a level of alertness against what must seem like the entire world, I have requested that I be suspended from my post on the school paper. After Mr. Cavanaugh explained to me why a new life in your culture and situation should not be received with joy, I see now how seriously flawed my judgement was in letting your secret out.

I hope that you'll forgive me. But if not, I completely respect your decision and hope that, in the near future, your child's life can be celebrated and not seen as a breach of custom.

Once again, I am so very sorry to have upset you.

Sincerely,

Lucia Avery

Felicity almost didn't read the email. The official retraction posted was enough for her and she was happy to put the matter aside, though she would still harbour anger toward the fairy regardless of whether or not she apologised. She opened the email out of curiosity and read through its contents. She wondered how much of it was sincere and how much of it was just the fairy trying to cover her own ass because she got in trouble. She wouldn't have retracted it had the teachers not stepped in, that much Felicity was sure of.

She opened up a reply to the email and went to type something but paused. She didn't want to mend any bridges with the fairy or let her think that somehow she was going to be allowed near her. Felicity didn't want the fairy close to her at all, even if her apology did have sincerity in it. Associating with fairies was already beneath her, and she was much stricter about that than other elves, who used them for amusement.

She had to choose her words carefully, if she was even going to reply at all. It would be better if she did reply here than in person though. She typed a few words and then sent it off. She then deleted the email, tossing it into her email's bin and then deleting it permanently from there.

Lucia,

Your apology is accepted, and I hope that your respect for my decision and privacy will extend to others as well.

Regards,
F. Bainbridge
