Narrative: When It Rains, It Pours
WHO: Micah Kaden
WHEN: March 4
WHERE: Jack's quarters, Micah's temporary residence
NPCs: Dr. Nelson

Between his workload of teaching and preparing for the parent-teacher conference, being Head of Ladon and taking care of problems that rose up there, balancing his personal life with Cressida and her new familiar, and working on finishing his doctorate, Micah was a busy man. He'd had to move in with Jack for the time being, while Cressida and Cheyenne worked on their important bond. He had intended on clearing out his old quarters inside Ladon dorms, but he'd not yet gotten around to it. The room was currently filled with extra furniture and things that had no other place to go.

He knew he was disrupting Jack's life by being in his quarters. They weren't very large to begin with and Micah barely fit into the shower. He currently had all of his grade work from Home Ec spread out on the floor and he was carefully going through them with a red pen when the phone rang.

Micah glanced up and reached for it, answering without looking at the number. "Micah Kaden." He said gruffly.

"Mr. Kaden? This is Dr. Nelson at Teton Valley Hospital. You're the son of Mrs. Kimama Kaden, are you not?"

Micah's blood went cold. "Yes. Yes, I am. Is she alright? Did something happen?"

"Mr. Kaden, your mother suffered a massive stroke three days ago. She was so remote in Yellowstone that no one checked up on her for three days. When she was found by a park ranger, it took another six hours to get her to the hospital for medical treatment."

Micah clenched his phone, knuckles white.

"She's currently stable, but has not yet woken up. We won't be sure how extensive the damage is until she does."

The doctor went on to describe the possibilities, going from worst case to best case, but Kaden's ears were ringing and he couldn't seem to get any air. His mother was all he had left of his family. His father was shot and killed in a hunting accident. His wife and two children had died on the icy roads. Kimama was the last tether he had to his life before coming to St. Margaret's.

Kaden was on his feet, already going for his coat. "I'm coming there. I'll be there as soon as I can." No other thought came to his mind but leaving immediately to go be by his mother's bedside. He was out standing in the snow, feet bare, hair dusted with snowflakes, before he knew he had stepped outside. He was heading to Cressida's bungalow automatically to tell her he had to go.
