"You should have known better, but you're just a kid." A kid who trusts too easily, was implied, but Kaden didn't say it in a derogatory way. The bear understood the concept of loyalty, and he didn't press Pavel for who his friend was that had provided the money. That bit wasn't important at the moment, though he had a good guess as to who. After reading the messages sent in the texts, and then reading Galad's statement on Micah's inquiry to the school - word for word dollar denominations that had been demanded of Pavel - it was pretty obvious Galad was at least in on it. And on Pavel's side.
Sighing heavily once more, Micah rubbed his chin, scratching at his bristly beard and setting one hand on his hip in thought. He looked at the phone on his desk and an idea came to mind. Moving back over to his chair, Kaden moved it out of the way and picked up the phone, forwarding a copy of the message files over to his email. With any luck, his plan would bear fruit.
"Leave that side of it to me." He handed the phone back to Pavel and then eased back into his chair, checking the time. He still had plenty of time left before Adri came to give her own testimony, so Micah focused in on Pavel again.
"Listen. This isn't fun for any of us, but I know it's especially not fun for you. Not only is your personal life exploding, but now what was personal is public and the staff have to step in and get involved. You didn't ask for any of this to happen or to turn out this way. I know you were just doing what you thought was best, and I don't blame you for trying. Just please, in the future, be more honest with me, alright? Or at least with Dana and Clara, if you can't tell a staff member. We can't help you if we don't know. Alright? Can you promise me?"
