“Yea, he and the guy who shots the arrows are funny together. And the he saves him.” There was something about that moment that struck Fen with a feeling she’d uet to identify. It was a sad but happy and hopeful feeling. A feeling that many would have trouble identifying. It was that feeling of sorrow over losing someone but at the same time a sense of peace because their death had been a selfless sacrifice.
“Volunteer?” Fen tilted her head, not 100% on the word.
Fen’s eyes focused on her work as Nicole asked about her loan. The way her friend asked her made her think she was in trouble, misreading concern for disappointment. She thought she’d done the right thing by finding a way to get Christmas presents for people, that was what people did, wasn’t it? And she was being responsible right? Paying her back. “Interest?” She nodded as Nicole explained it. “Yea, that’s what it is. And not all of my stipend.” She said, glancing up at Nicole before pretending to be focused on her work again. It wasn’t all, but it was most of her stipend. But she didn’t need a lot of things so, she made did. “You don’t have to talk to her... she’s been really nice.” And Fen didn’t want her to mess things up and didn’t want to risk Nat changing her mind about making sure she had money for flowers.
