Katherine was completely used to deflection. When you did what you could to try and help people out of a funk you got used to it. Normally she would allow it as she liked people to work through things on their own rather than being pressured into thinking they needed to be over it to be normal or to stop being a problem. Most people didn't understand that trying to force the person out of a funk was not always the best way to handle it. She liked to just try to be around the person. Figure them out and how to help them best. Some just wanted things to go back to normal, some just wanted silence until they felt like talking. She provided both options as well as many in between.
This problem, on the other hand, had to do with her health. She didn't look like she was handling things well even if she were supposed to be immune. "The potion has been helping me," she admitted, "And it's only when I get around him that I have any issues." She vividly remembered what she had been like when she discovered Valentin's and Pavel's relationship. She felt so ashamed for that; in fact, she still had trouble looking Valentin in the face after that night. "The potion seems to block those other feelings."
"Why are you not wanting to tell him?" She asked, "He wouldn't want you going through so much pain." She wasn't able to seal her power completely away yet, and she could feel it, so she remained a couple of feet away. She felt as though the recent weeks had been filled with joy followed by intense negative feelings such as weariness, restlessness, and anticipation. She had never really thought about it before, but she did this a lot with people. She would look at a person and somehow know what they've been going through as though their life had been a film she had grown especially fond of.
