Cressida reached to grab a box of tissues, making them available to Alicia to use instead of her sleeve. Alicia then began talking, and Cressida listened. The question was a bit surprising, and maybe if she had some context. It was hard to tell if th question was rhetorical or not though. But it was clear as Alicia continued that she was suffering from heartache. On some level, Cressida could sort of understand.
"I've known what it's like to love someone and be disappointed in it," Cressida said, "I've also known what it's like to love someone so much and have them walk away. I don't think it was in the same manner as yourself, but it was a . . . painful experience." She didn't talk too much about Nicholas because it had been a bad experience. She poured herself into her studies instead and distracted herself from it. But it had been some time before she was ready to open herself up again. It just took a werebear with a grin that made her weak at the knees.
Moving her chair over near Alicia, she placed an arm around the girl's shoulder, "i'm sorry, Alicia." Even if a part of her wanted to find some pride in the fact that she was right about knowing something was wrong, it was quickly drowned out by the part of her which had greater empathy for a young woman with heartache.
