Alicia knew she was cracking and she hated every moment of it. Though objectively she was surprised she had kept her feelings in check for as long as she had. She had her cry sessions in the privacy of her dorm room, but she had been able to keep a strong front. Until now. It was surprising how something as little as asking if she was alright...in the right context, of course, could shut it all down. She briefly wondered for how long Cressida suspected something was amiss. She had done her best to hid it from her teachers and especially her own head of house, being the trouble maker, the honor student, the mentor, apparently not as well as she had hoped.
Alicia appreciated the offer and her mind was busy contemplating if she wanted to take her teacher up on it. Maybe she had a bit of hydra in her and not wanting to rely on others....but she was definitely all Kitsune. She was pretty sure she knew how the conversation would play out. The same patronizing that any adult gave when a teen talked about love. Still...what did she have to lose? Maybe she was just a stupid teenager who didn't know anything about true love? Maybe 10 years down the road she would look back at how silly she was? Alicia didn't know.
She finally decided and using her sleeve wiped tears from her eyes and took a deep breath so she could speak without stuttering. It was embarrassing enough as it was.
"You know the feeling when your soul just gets torn to shreds?" she asked. "Be lucky enough to find the person you are meant for and is meant for you at such a young age.....and then it's gone. Leaving you with the realization that all that's left is your long life span without that person?" she asked. She was doing her best to not have her words sound too after school special but she couldn't help it. No matter how she said it, she was just going to sound like a stupid teenager, even though she knew it was much more than that.
"That you will...in all likelihood, never see them again?" she continued, finally looking up at Cressida, tears welling up in her eyes again. She winced them shut once more, doing her best to will the waterworks to stop.
She wasn't sure how active Cress liked to be in the personal lives of students. It was hardly a secret though that through her first two years at school, she and Bushara had been an item. Still, she wasn't ready to say the name, just yet.
