"It's almost like a dream come true," she replied, "Not a good dream; in fact, probably more like a nightmare." She grinned at him. She recognized her typical defense wasn't really something that worked on him. He was too familiar with her by now to be fooled by her sarcastic defenses. It didn't matter though. She wasn't really the type to fully disclose what she was thinking about anyways.
She wasn't avoiding his gaze, though if she knew what he could do she would have. Her thoughts were on all of those she felt guilty for getting killed. On top of that, they lingered on what she viewed as her failures in general. She may have been a good student, getting grades that allowed her access to impressive opportunities after she left the school, but she felt that much of her personal life was riddled with failures that she could never fix. Her part in her parents' deaths, Caitlin's death, the fact she was supposed to be learning how to be a hunter yet knowing now how horrible that type of life is. Then most recently all the smaller problems having to do with how she had been acting towards her fellow Hydra. There were times, now being one of them, when she hated them.
"You?" she returned the question, feeling that perhaps focusing on someone else might help her forget her troubles for the moment.
