If she had been on top of her game she would have been able to notice James' approach, but it was hard to be on top of your game when you were not too keen on existing. As it was, she simply had to settle for acting as though his appearance hadn't caught her off guard.
She didn't move immediately at his greeting, choosing to finish what she was doing before closing the notebook and looking up to him. "Sup?" she gave by way of greeting. She didn't give sign of her emotions outwardly when she looked upon him.
Of the people that could have come out into the woods randomly and found her, James was not the worst one. He was typically respectful of her privacy while at the same time being on friendly enough terms with her that she had even saw fit to do him a favor. A favor which helped her with a few choices she had made recently that would help her set the course of her life however long or short she chose to let that be. "I don't know," she shrugged, "There's pretty limited space out here." She forced a smirk to allow him to see that she was kidding and she was fine with him joining her if he wanted.
